Japanese researchers announce they have developed a new method for getting cancer cells to kill themselves.
Sources say they simply have to ask the cancer cells for a "quick chat" on Microsoft Teams.
Whatโs that you say? Liz has a new book out which even the Telegraph is saying is even more unhinged than the last one? Wonderful, Iโll post this then.
i remember being in the boyscouts and being taught flag etiquette and i thought burning the flag sounded cool so i dropped one on the ground on purpose and told my dad we needed to burn it and he told me to fuck off
Modal outcome here:
* Raman wins comfortably
* DSA looks weak because their endorsement or its withdrawal doesn't matter
* DSA looks even weaker because constant messy intra-factional beefs caused the above
NEW: DSA's National Political Committee passed two resolutions today aimed at Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman, beginning processes that could result in DSA-LA being forced to rescind its endorsement of her this weekend and/or Raman herself being expelled from DSA by January.
Look, I know all the reasons we got here, but we really need to start seriously thinking about what we do in a world where The Markets punish whole countries for voting for decency, compassion, and fairness. We must stop pretending the capitalist machine is an objective, value neutral force.
The US is not about to have a free and fair election. The state has put its thumb on the scale to favor the ruling party in multiple ways.
It's a mostly free, somewhat unfair election. But still one where the ruling party can be overwhelmed by numbers. Hence the term "competitive authoritarianism."
It is atrocious we have to operate under this constant credible and explicit threat from one political party, the fact we keep calling it a โfree and fair electionโ needs some light revising
"libertarian candidate for state senate in north carolina is currently in a shootout with the cops and live-tweeting his planned suicide", while not exactly surprising, is still a weird thing to read

When trans creators are subtle, people dismiss the trans subtext as โheadcanon.โ
When trans creators are loud and proud, people call it โobnoxiousโ and โcringe.โ
They just donโt want us to be represented in media at all. Because they donโt want us to exist at all.
I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.
The vile attacks on Amy Acton need to be seen in the context of a party that *needs* people to believe women fabricating sexual assaults is common as rainwater. Because itโs pretty much the only way to evade the conclusion that the president is a rapist.
Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States.
"In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct."

you cannot trust marxist-leninists. marxism-leninism structurally selects for either ignorant or immoral people (specifically people willing to ignore its grave historical crimes).
also its *founding organizational tenet* (democratic centralism) structurally selects for dishonesty and entryism

If there is a Republican candidate you are considering voting for because he is an exception, a throwback to the good old days when Republicans were decent, honorable people, I assure you: no there isn't.
"Under Brazilian federal law, all legislators have immunity...To run for President, Bolsonaro decided not to run for his Senate seat. Now, after losing the Presidential election, he no longer has legislative immunity when his Senate term expires in January 2027."
Very Special Episode of no amnesty
Flรกvio Bolsonaro had his passport confiscated by the Brazilian fed police as his brother Eduardo told him to flee to the US.
He is tied to paramilitary gangs, is being investigated & lost his legislative immunity when he left the Senate to run for president.

i think. like ok if i ever fucked up so bad my eighth grade teacher posted up on a street corner to literally picket my behavior. i mean i would simply kill myself like thatโs all there is to it
I'm going to try to do this cleanly.
Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

On a recent podcast, Jessica Taylor of Cook Political Report said that the combination of public and private polling she's seen, plus what she's hearing on the ground from Republican and Democratic, says a 2010-esque night (but for Republicans this time) is increasingly likely. Be still my heart.
with permission Iโm going to share this note which I enjoyed receiving. not sure xo would be useful for anyone or everyone but some people are finding it helpful:
new significant update for xo: this push adds the first of several planned modules in Kettle, which centralizes your contacts, enriches them, and makes them agent-queryable.
basic idea here is that the store of who you know and what you know about them should be defragmented and you-centric.
When the libs are supporting Lula that's what we call "the libs doing what the left wants" and when the libs do what the left wants that's good because, in adversarial terms, it means we're setting terms.
I feel like one of the issues with economic malaise is pretty clearly the fact that if you look at 1826 -> 1876 -> 1926 -> 1976 -> 2026, every one of these 50 year periods saw a massive, qualitative, jump in quality of life, except the last one
There is an international, well-connected network of fascists promoting far-right candidates in elections (and coups) across the world. The guy who owns the site Yglesias posted this on is one of their leaders.
Be careful of people advocating for their opponents to disarm!
