I don't know who needs a real pickmeup today, but in recent court filings about the wealth owned by Andrew Tate, they indicate the Bugattis and Aston Martin he always bragged about owning...
were rented.
All of them.
βThe preventable deaths caused by the global health order are not mere governance failures but structural outcomes of monopoly intellectual property, sovereign debt, and the commodification of health under a capitalist world economyβ

Dr. Erica Schwartz becoming the first Black woman to lead the CDC is historic, but representation & accountability must go together.
Trust must be earned by defending science, protecting the CDCβs independence, and putting public health above political pressure.
Iβll be watching.

been in the cards for awhile, but itβs confirmed now: βFor the first time in a quarter century, the U.S. no longer meets a main criterion for having eliminated measles as a public health threat.β
Doctors in Utah pull back the curtain on what's happening in America.
You can read (and listen!) to my piece for WIRED/KFFHN without a paywall, here: kffhealthnews.org/public-healt...
It's hilarious that 30% of people are willing to offer an opinion on a book when ~15% of Americans say they read for pleasure.
This is astroturfed outrage
"Africa bears a heavy infectious-disease burden and is home to a quarter of the worldβs biodiversity, yet it accounts for under two percent of pharmaceutical patents: the continentβs plants, fungi, and marine organisms are a formidable but underused resource to address antimicrobial resistance."

NEW: A trove of internal records from Dialog, the secret society cofounded by Peter Thiel, was left exposed online. WIRED obtained a second cache of records that reveal who's really attending, how they're screened, and what personal details they were promised would stay private.
More signs of resurging HIV after USAIDβs closure. African Neonatal Network reported at IMNCH (a global health conference): HIV+ pregnant women β50% & those not on antiretrovirals β>300%, year-on-year, across 22 hospitals in 5 nations. @vtoxfordnetwork.bsky.social
GOOD NEWS! A personalized mRNA vaccine, known as mRNA-4157, has shown promise in keeping melanoma, a deadly skin cancer, from returning.
FIVE years later, NEARLY 70% of people in the vaccine group are CANCER-FREE. The vaccine also cut a personβs risk of the cancer metastasizing by NEARLY 60%.
Cape Verdeβs World Cup heroes have landed back home, greeted by saluting airport staff and hundreds of fans π¨π»
Today is also the 51st anniversary of the countryβs independence. Have a day, Cape Verde π
They did exactly what you should NOT do: they made sudden & massive cuts in health & humanitarian aid
When you do this, our research has shown that you get disease resurgence & deaths
The deaths caused by Musk βputting USAID into the wood chipperβ (his words) were predictable & preventable

Health aid can lead to health system fragmentation & inefficiency when allocated to vertical (disease-specific) programs
So: aid has saved millions of lives (e.g. the Global Fund estimates it has saved 70 million lives, Gavi estimates 21 million deaths prevented) but it has downsides too

Iβm grateful to @nickkristof.bsky.social for his continued reporting on the Trump Administrationβs horrific retreat from global health cooperationβwhich has had deadly consequencesβ& for sharing the painful human stories of deaths that could have been averted
I guess this topic is kind of my lane π§΅
Elon Musk says that no one died because of his demolition of USAID, and that "Kristof is lying through his teeth." So here I invite him to join me on a visit to Africa to see for himself: www.nytimes.com/2026/07/01/o...
Your reminder that fairy tales are full of stepmothers because women once routinely died in childbirth, from postpartum sepsis, or from other infectious diseases and left behind housefuls of motherless children.
Stable nuclear families are made possible by vaccines, antibiotics, and safe abortions.
Did you know 19th-century medicine wrongly claimed Black people were genetically destined for poorer health outcomes? In episode 6 of Intention to Treat, Joseph Graves, PhD, digs into the history of race in medicine. Listen to Intention to Treat wherever you get your podcasts.
The HPV vaccine was approved 20 years ago this week. In a new series, CIDRAP News looks at what we've learned.
In this story, we profile two sisters: Hailey was eligible for vaccination in 2006. Erica was not. 6 yrs later, Erica was diagnosed with cervical cancer.

My LinkedIn feed is awash with AI-generated infographics that my eyes are just glazing over all the noise.
I canβt tell if itβs just the subconscious recognition of AI use itself or a perfect demonstration of how LLMs lack the creativity and ability to apply good design principles but I hate it.
Harder to think of a clearer example of "The Master's Tools Will Never Dismantle The Master's House" for this era than people using "generative AI" to protest the outputs and infrastructure of "AI"
