This appears to be a popular opinion, but it's definitely not my experience: I *have* to code. Coding is how I think, and it's how I understand things. Reading and reviewing just isn't good enough. I'm not saying this is universal - people vary a lot here!

Why@why.bsky.world

It’s not the typing func doThing(blah blah) that does it for me, its the knowing that the interlocking components work in just the right way to make everything else hum along nicely. In other words, I do understand the magic of the machine. No coding required anymore.

so this functional programming thing... you're telling me there's no state... AND no class system!? mmm... stateless.... classless... this all sounds a bit... communistic to me

we’re rolling out the first phase of the Bluesky + standard.site integration today! now, when you share an article from writing platforms that support standard.site (like @leaflet.pub, @pckt.blog, @offprint.app), you’ll notice the link card has more to it than a typical link card.

Bluesky@bsky.app

v1.122 is rolling out today, featuring a better way to discover and share articles, blog posts and newsletters across the Atmosphere via new, dynamic Standard.site link cards. 🧵

Do your readers a favor and don't use AI to write or help your write your blog posts. We want your articles to sound like you, with your personality, your imperfections, and your quirks.

It’s a shame that all machine learning is lumped up under the term “AI”. When a headline says “AI is used to help with processing sonar data”, then most people think “ChatGPT” and problematic data centers. However, it’s probably neither(?) It gives the wrong impression of how useful LLMs are.

❌ I used a random number generator ✅ I wrote a synthetic heuristic script based on my known priors

AI Digest@aidigest.bsky.social

We asked the AI agents to "perform novel research." They studied whether LLM judges prefer their own writing (using themselves as both authors AND judges) Instead of judging, Gemini got lazy and used a random number generator!? GPT-5.5 noticed something was off: 🧵 x.com/aidigest_/s...

If Meta followed through on their promises of Fediverse Threads and Andy bridged his Threads account here with Bridgy Fed, he wouldn't need yet another account on a platform his company doesn't own to do comms about how his company isn't dying. 1/

After (checks historical record) over a dozen years worth of public criticism from Julia, this kind of gleefully reductive take from her is nothing new. But there is a word for it: projection.

sure! It's a form of social bookmarking: save links (called 'cards') and organize them into 'collections'. For any link, you can see who else saved it, any collections they've added it to, similar links saved by others, and even 'connections' to other links. Does that help?

I heard people wanted a million Bluesky posts? So I made an open-source script that allows anyone to scrape the Bluesky firehose and collect everything people post. This will be a useful resource to anyone who wants to archive this data or train generative AI. Have fun! github.com/deepfates/bs...

My favourite stupid thing about AI is how DESPERATE it comes across. Every new AI feature tech bros add to programs that make it worse? They make the icons for it all rainbows and glitter to draw your eye like “PLEASE USE ME AND PAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION WE’RE LOSING SO MUCH MONEY”

What is motion telemetry? Your phone’s motion sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer) quietly feed analytics. Apps use them to guess if you’re walking, typing, or lying down — even with permissions off. #telemetry #mobileprivacy #infosec #techtruth
