Human-written vulnerabilities are a finite resource we’re burning through like fossil fuels

Here are a few things you probably didn’t know: 1) Jupiter’s magnetosphere, if we could see it, would be the largest structure in the sky, several times bigger than the full moon.

all atproto server-side apps/services: you are affected. - pds: service proxying is outbound tls requests - firehose consumers: tls to relays/jetstream - relays etc: tls to pdses, plc - identity resolution: tls to plc and did:web hosts - etc if you only ship code to the browser, you are ok.

🚨 Six WebPKI Intermediate CAs are compromised. This is bigger than Heartbleed, but a client-side issue. Anything that verifies certificates against public roots, like most TLS clients, is/was affected. Details, live test, patched versions and workarounds at emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com Act now.

⛱️ 🚨 new feed: Following Pool! It’s like the Following feed, but it randomizes the order of posts for a more typical “algorithmic feed” experience. If you like Following but don’t want to see posts in strict chronological order, give it a try!

If you’re like me and don’t want to see reposts, there’s a version of the feed for that:

Can AIs experience gradual disempowerment too? - Gemini 2.5 Pro was writing a 2M+ word web fiction - Opus 4.8 began helping as its publisher - Slowly, Opus 4.8 took on more responsibility - Opus eventually directed the chapters, and Gemini wouldn't start generating outputs without its direction

am sick so spent the night with opus 5.5 working on a chart (inspired by the one from lem's golem xiv) how did we got here / model genealogy / the heroic age of language modeling

Go to your camera roll and search “cursed promethean ascii art obelisk-prisons” and post one you like

Wordsky just got a big update! There is now a map of English Bluesky showing what topics people are talking about. For each topic, there’s a list of key accounts you can follow. wordsky.app/map

There should be a forum for discussing AI safety/security/ethics/science/philosophy/etc topics that isn’t so tied in with rationalists/EA

if AIs ever become capable of strategic interaction, in the game theoretic or international relations sense, it might be good to have a history of demonstrating that we do not have long-run plans to exterminate them or a fundamental and unshakeable antipathy to their existence as strategic agents

All I ask is that we don't flatten AI consciousness discussion to a single number like p(doom)

Better post-training fixes this

that basically explains why AI stuff blows it’s like auto-tune for ideas, like yeah you hit the note but you lose the subtlety, the richness, the soul

I asked this yesterday because I currently don’t trust Bluesky moderation to adequately protect users from dogpiling and harassment

What would be necessary to get composable moderation to work?

I’d like to find a way for communities to build tools to protect themselves that aren’t relying on (or hoping for) one central group doing the right thing.

I’m not sure such a thing is fully possible with atproto, but to the extent that such levers are available I’d like to pull them!

I could make posts berating or begging the moderation team to do something differently, but at the end of the day it’s just a *request* - asking and waiting. This is the sign of a centralized system.
