Because it really is the behavior of people who don't even perceive the *existence* of a movement, who treat politics like it's just their little personal little league game to win or lose. It's wrecker shit, fundamentally. Insecure, pathetic behavior.

What these politicians are doing when they put out dumb transphobic ads or say dumb transphobic things on stage is that they're weakening the movement either out of personal bigotry or out of doing incorrect electoral math, and they really should get shit for it.

You should have to talk to a professional before getting surgery because a. you should have surgery done by a professional b. the surgeon should be on the same page as you about what surgery you're getting/they're doing

yaoi gagarin@mel.bzky.team

like yes you should have to talk to a professional before getting surgery but also that professional should have no power to hold you back and should exclusively serve as someone who gives you info on what you're getting into

There is little meritocracy or competition when it comes to Democratic consultants—they get paid the same regardless of how their candidates perform in the election.

Democratic candidates doing anti-trans signaling is so baffling because even your voters who aren't naturally pro-trans are going to notice that all the people who are vocally *anti*-trans are also anti-Everything Someone Normal Who Votes Democrat Could Possibly Care About

found out that my mother in law decided she was aggressively pro trans rights literally by going, I don't know anything about this but everyone who is against trans rights is also against free school lunch, the issue I know and care a lot about, so this must be the correct way to feel about this

it's pretty cool how every time I hear about a Democrat politician doing something halfway-decent (I don't even remember what Talarico did at this point, to be fair), i then immediately see them brag about metaphorically shooting their own dick smoove off

If it's legal for police to murder 1-year-olds, that doesn't mean murder is fine, it means the law is evil.

Ashton Pittman@ashtonpittman.bsky.social

JUST IN: The police shooting that killed 1-year-old Kohen Wiley as he sat in his mother’s lap in a Walmart parking lot in Senatobia, Miss., in June “was justified,” Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office said on Monday. Her office will not charge the white officer who shot the child.

If the Queerbeauftragter of Berlin’s mercifully outgoing incumbent government had been alive for Stonewall, he might have sagely noted that the police didn’t march in arbitrarily: it was a Mafia-run bar, and there were laws against serving alcohol to queers and wearing the ‘wrong’ gender’s clothes.

while it's true that everything is gender, about 85% of things are also antitrust

People demanding Zuck be hauled before Congress to explain why No Kings insta was suspended... how would you feel if MAGA GOP hauled MSNow execs to explain why they covered Trump the way they do? Both are editorial choices protected by the First Amendment. If this annoys you...

the trans people in sports debate is actually very exemplary here because on one side you have all the arguments and on the other side you have cis people who feel like men must be superior because god created them that way

the average cis person is so clueless when it comes to human biology that they think trans women with boobs must have had BA because they do not know that my body just did that

liids.bsky.social reposted

it is of course transphobic bigotry but it should be pointed out that the lie “people need the right healthcare for their biological sex” kills trans people. trans women get breast cancer at far higher rates than cis men. trans men get prostate cancer. hrt changes your sex.

flyingrodent@flyingrodent.bsky.social

It would IMO be better if MPs had not utterly deranged their own brains on Twitter dot com, wildly radicalising themselves and each other.

Having the proper terminology to discuss our issues is really important to me, and that's why I think any rhetoric that tells a bunch of marginalised people that they are actually part of the dominant in-group is plainly not fit for purpose.

Absurd outcomes happen when the ideological claim that changing sex is impossible makes contact with the biological reality that every single aspect of sex that could be visible to an observer is in fact changeable.

Joe Biden had one job, which was to close the book on Trumpism. His legacy will forever be defined by the fact that Trump returned to office in January 2025, and immediately began comitting far worse crimes and abuses than he had in his first presidency.

I voted. I'm not sure how many emails I still need per day telling me my ballot has been mailed, make a plan to vote, the election is on November 3, your ballot has been mailed, vote early, make sure your ballot arrives on time, the election is on November 3, have you received your ballot, vote earl

📎 It looks like you're writing an article about parents who are estranged from their adult children. Would you like to do some basic journalism? * Yes, let's find out how the parent feels about queer people * No, I already know the parent tried to kill the child and the co-parent covered it up

Unironically, it's an aspect of cultural fascism. Playing a game just to enjoy yourself is treated as a sort of degeneracy. Sports are used as a vehicle to teach children to celebrate strength and shun weakness, and to prioritize victory and supremacy as the signifiers of success.
