“housing is a human right but the problem is developers who build housing” is simply not a coherent message Especially when you consider the fact that Seattle has actually done a decent job at building housing and is relatively affordable as a result compared to other high demand cities

who creates the lively art and music scenes if the rent is too high? who makes cultural life? who serves you food or washes your dishes? who creates the fancy little restaurants that draw you to urban living? affordable housing is at the heart of what makes city life worthwhile.

Trump just ordered the military into Portland, and he’s giving them the green light to use lethal force on American citizens. Authoritarianism is an abstract concept but Trump is making its impacts real and tangible. Let’s be real about it: This is the beginning of dictatorship in America.

This is extrajudicial execution, without any clear threat to the US, no authorization from Congress, and far beyond even Article II. The military is not the president's personal hit squad. Or wasn't, until now.

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy. I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

$45 billion for ethnic cleansing

Adam Gurri@adamgurri.liberalcurrents.com

It’s one thing to say they want to deport 20 million people, it’s even one thing to go nuts brazenly doing whatever you can as the executive branch to make it happen, but the fact that they’re going to give ICE an additional 45B shows how committed they are to seeing this through.

A reminder that the @nytimes.com told New Yorkers to not rank Mamdani at all, & instead endorsed former hedge fund manager Whitney Tilson. Tilson sits at a whopping .8%. Corporate media trust is dead. They killed themselves by failing to fulfill their promise of holding the powerful accountable.

This is a lie. We all saw the video. The Senator clearly identified himself, and he did not "lunge" toward anyone.   If these miserable propagandists will lie to you about roughing up a U.S. Senator in a room full of reporters, what won't they lie to you about?

Reading stories of cruel and brutal ICE deportations and detentions, I’m truly struck by the fact that this is what more voters chose. We all knew this would happen given his first presidency and yet this was the winning choice. America chose cruelty. And tariffs. And Project 2025.

RFK Jr thinks autistic people are second class citizens who “never pay taxes”, “never hold a job”, are a burden on society and that vaccines cause autism so they should be banned. Incredibly destructive ideas for anyone to have, let alone the secretary of health and human services. Crazy times.
