Mentioned this before probably but a wild bit of NBA trivia is that while MJ and Wilt have the two highest career scoring averages, two active players are third and fourth: Luka and Embiid. #NBAsky

Make Gutter Racism Disqualifying Again

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

This time we’re a week in, but TWolves-Cavs overtime has offered the season’s first chance to once again ask why the league would not do this obvious thing to make the game better

Dave Levitan@davelevitan.bsky.social

It took until the first game of the new NBA season to give me a chance to bump the Most Obvious Rule Change In Sports once again: If you get to an NBA overtime without fouling out, you get an extra foul. Come on. #NBAsky

Pretty funny how he ignored the Saddam Hussein part of the joke

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

Anyone got mildly obscure horror suggestions? Spooky season ‘26 rankings (first-time watches only): Oddity An American Werewolf in London V/H/S 94 Prom Night Piranha Faces of Death some others I’m forgetting

Some wonderful suggestions, thank you. I have added them to the list but will now watch Friday the 13th part 2, as that whole series is a huge blind spot for me.

My second-hand impression of the Anthropic IPO filing is that basically says "we lose a country GDP's worth of money, we rely heavily on other tech companies to even exist, our tech may destroy the world in [86 pages of possibilities], we are worth 100 trillion dollars"

Amazing how some companies think that someone placing one (1) order for a product they sell means the customer wants not just the product in question but also at least eight emails per day afterward in perpetuity.

-Should we go back to that restaurant we kinda liked? -Nah after we went they sent a waiter to my house five times a day to poke me in the eye, let's try somewhere else

Just so many ways these things are offering people a distorted view of the world

Jason Koebler@jasonkoebler.bsky.social

In the last few weeks i've been bombarded with emails from people who have minor tech support problems. ChatGPT is telling them to email me, writing their emails, and compiling "evidence packets" after convincing them they have stumbled on a major story: www.404media.co/chatgpt-keep...

Pretty sure the bulk of it doesn’t really get fixed until the five or so way too rich people we can all name have all their stuff broken up and taken away

-huh that’s weird, I’ll just blow out this candle and we can— -No, don’t… I WANT him to watch.

It makes more sense later in the movie (when it’s next to the stolen gravestone) but I don’t think I ever clocked how absolutely absurd it is that Lynda and Bob have sex next to a *lit Jack-o-lantern on a bedside table* in Halloween. Did they light it?? Or did they just find it and not care???

Dave Levitan reposted

I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

Also watched Prom Night for the first time, and I know people have some love for it and its 10-minute disco dance sequences, but the blatant Halloween knockoffs don’t ever come close tbh.

One question I have is whether he sort of triangulated his way to the specific gutter racism takes that the rest of his party will tolerate or if he had the takes and the party triangulated their own extremely tenuous grasp on “civility” in order to endorse those takes

Trump: "Somalia -- 98% of the people here now from Somalia don't work. They don't have to work because they steal so much. They all have a Mercedes Benz. Low IQ and they live better than you do."

Like not Skynet but more “I dunno, some things went offline and then some people panicked and some more things went offline and here we are, sitting around this barrel fire”

On the one hand I don’t want to get excited about any individual red state polling numbers and just kinda have to see it happen, but on the other hand… that’s quite a few exciting red state polls

This is one of those things that I kinda doubt will ever actually happen but also even floating it -- and pulling in hundreds of millions for it -- should be essentially Hague-worthy

It's cool how The Economy is like six of the worst companies run by the weirdest, most cooked people in the world giving each other billions of dollars until the bubble bursts
