Happy Monday, everybody! This week, have you considered voting early (if you can) and voting in person (if you can)? It's fun! Try it if you can!

.NET has released an out of band security update to address the vulnerability in the Google Brotli library. This is the same library NPM and others use. .NET and ASP.NET Core do not use Brotli by default, you have to opt-in. Details on what to look for in your code are in the advisory.

So...me again, the one that keeps pointing out how many of you still use meta products. I see all of your comments on here how meta tried to interfere with the Brazilian election. Wonder how many of you then went and posted and scrolled Instagram for hours. Stop...using...their...products

@flashes.blue why are you asking for so many permissions? @bsky.app can the permissions be more granular, and allow me to uncheck things I don't want in permissions screen? E.g. there's no reason for me to grant permission to update my email, or read and send messages.

The php vuln finally got me to migrate an old site off of wordpress. Doing it manually would have taken all day - claude did it in 10 minutes.

Is there a github setting to turn off "allow merge commits" for all new repositories? Every time I create a repo I have to go to settings and uncheck that. Would be nice if I could set a default.

You get a CVE! You get a CVE! Everyone gets a CVE!!

I'm once again asking developers to stop limiting password length, or worse silently cutting off the extra characters when changing the password.

never seen this before: a popup pretending to be @cloudflare.social turnstile using official Cloudflare name and branding to get people to run unauthorized commands in the terminal, under the guise of being a new type of CAPTCHA.

Go vote everyone! Our future depends on it!

We voted! Early and in person! Your turn!

I updated word.gallery to show results instantly as you type, added pattern support, and added better dictionaries. While version 1 worked fine, I like this version 2 so much better.

It used to be day++, dollar++, but in this economy it's more like week++, dollar++.

Looking for full-time, remote senior/staff or tech lead level work. TypeScript is my strongest suit, but I'm a flexible polyglot. Boosts for visibility appreciated!
