I made an AI video about genzplyr and I lowkey love it. It's also 100% slop. In this post I dig into what makes something slop, when it's ok to share it, and how to avoid it in work that matters. Read more at: substack.hadley.nz/p/what-is-slop

In case you weren't able to make it, @sara-altman.bsky.social and I wrote up the talk for the @posit.co OSS blog. We talked about the rise of "vibe analysis," the pitfalls of human-in-the-loop, and some new software from Posit. opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-10...

Such an honor to keynote at posit::conf(2026). I still vividly remember the first conf keynote I ever saw, when @jennybryan.bsky.social spoke about debugging in San Francisco. Very grateful for the opportunity (especially to present alongside @sara-altman.bsky.social)!

The Positron Notebook Editor is out of beta and ready for all your notebook workflows! I am super proud of the work the team did to build this notebook experience from scratch. Something we decided was necessary to have a fantastic notebook experience for data science.

When we started working on Positron, we began by asking "what did we always want to do in RStudio, but couldn't"? Years of community upvotes on RStudio's issue tracker helped us form that wishlist. Here's how some big ideas made their way to Positron: opensource.posit.co/blog/2026-06...

The user interface in the new Posit Assistant is one of the best and most intuitive I've seen for using AI tools for editing code. This will be excellent for students and researchers already familiar with RStudio. This is a brilliant harness and user experience for using AI for data science πŸŽ‰

We admit we're in an awkward spot right now πŸ˜… in this migration for our AI coding assistance tooling, but I am really happy with how the Posit Assistant experience is shaping up. Give it a try, if you haven't yet!
