We hear plenty about young people struggling to find work. But what about the over-50s? Nearly 3 million people below pension age are out of work, education or training – and many want to work. Why are they getting so little attention? @eastangliabylines.co.uk

People abroad don't understand the level of interference Meta & bots had in these elections. 5 days before the election a far-right politician posted a fake news video that got 157 MILLION views on Instagram in 24hs. For reference, GTA 6's reveal trailer got 90 million views on YouTube in 24hs.

First Serbia, and now an even more seismic election result for the geopolitics of now. Hard to overstate how important Brazil bucking the far right trend in Latin America is - also a huge blow to Trump www.theguardian.com/world/2026/o...

In the great news from Brazil, don't sleep on this Reuters investigation which found that Darren Beattie, a racist activist who was fired during the first Trump administration, directly worked to increase tariffs on Brazil to harm the country in hopes that it would elect Flavio Bolsonaro

I'm utterly shocked at Reform being abusive and misogynistic- I mean it was bloody obvious
Now independent MSP Amanda Bland has spoken for the first time on why she left the Reform UK party in Holyrood: because of what she calls "abusive, misogynistic behaviour" by Reform leaders, who are named in this piece.

News just broke that Elon Musk made a $1 billion investment in the Ellison family's Skydance, which owns CBS and CNN. Anoher step toward right-wing "media capture," as I wrote about recently in my Stop the Presses newsletter.

London does it, Manchester does it, Liverpool does it. Wales and the West Midlands are about to do it. So why is it only in Scotland that the media loses its mind over plans to bring buses into public control? Answer: because it’s an SNP policy and the Scottish media has lost all sense of balance

My view at the time was a lot less “ah, sunshine is the best disinfectant” and a lot more “what the fuck are you dangerously feckless idiots playing at”, and it turns out the answer was “almost two decades of the mainstream appropriating this man’s politics and rhetoric, for their own ends”.
#Onthisday 2009. Nick Griffin, the leader of the British National Party (BNP), appeared as a panellist on Question Time The BBC's decision to invite Griffin was immensely controversial. His appearance drew a record audience of eight million viewers Full story: www.politics.co.uk/history/bnp-...

The "we'll just import it if we don't extract it" argument to more North Sea oil and gas extraction dismissed in one post...
Claims that N sea gas is “much cleaner” than importing LNG are misleading: if you add in the impact of burning the gas, as @carbonbrief.org shows, the difference is marginal. But extracting more from N Sea adds more to total amount of fossil fuels burned globally. It’s reckless & unnecessary 🧵2/4

These people just make up shit.....every day. Everything that comes out of their mouths is lies. How do they say it with a straight face. And so called journalists the world over are letting all of us down.

The saddest thing about this is that I really think RL believes it. Others on the far right are just saying whatever they know will go down well with their paymasters and increasingly radicalised followings.I really think he thinks he’s some sort of crusader who’ll be remembered in the history books

Had political journos done their jobs, this rampant racism from a conspiratorial transphobe wouldn’t be news to them and could’ve maybe prevented this washed up bigot from being part of the legislature.
Fairly open racism and far right talking points from someone who is, last time I checked, a Conservative peer.
