This means that the increased price of RAM and consumer electronics was a result of an artificial "supply chain crisis" created by Jensen Huang pushing NVIDIA's customers to take early delivery of GPUs. Jensen Huang is responsible for making life worse for everyone.

Ed Zitron@edzitron.com

NVIDIA seems to be channel stuffing, forcing Amazon and other customers to take early delivery. The argument that these things are "scarce" when you don't even have anywhere to plug them into is nonsense...unless NVIDIA is saying you NEED to take them now, or else. GPUs are stacked in warehouses.

the Vice President of the United States has gone on record citing this man as one of his biggest intellectual influences if you didn't know this, it's probably because for some reason literally no mainstream political media outlets think it's worth mentioning

I think this fundamentally misunderstands why some vote for these incompetent brick throwers. They hate the system as a whole, and want someone to make a mess of it. They don't see the main parties as offering solutions that touch their life. They're probably low information. 1/

📢 On election day Australians will vote for those offering solutions, not making the most noise.

By alienating the public from the realm of politics, they've created a seething enmity to it in huge parts of the electorate. Connecting with people, making parties mass movements again, recreating the third spaces where everyday folks could be on the periphery these convos. That's the only fix. 3/

I want to believe that parties from the left, the greens and the socialists and the animal rights parties, can see this and make a good faith attempt to reclaim connection with our lived experience. I think its the only durable way to fix politics. I think its why teals/local candidates work.

The majors, by pulling more and more power into a tinier and tinier cabal at head office, have made party membership rare, and the ability of the common folk to have influence even rarer. So folks don't see the impact of policy in their life, they just see that things aren't working for them. 2/

If Biden or Obama had started a war that led to attacks like these on American bases—and then covered it up for months—the political backlash would eclipse Benghazi. One service member: "We're not defending these bases. We're just watching them get destroyed." www.cbsnews.com/news/new-pho...

It's for a teenage girl who doesn't know what the name is for the feelings she has and is so happy to discover that queer means you don't have to fit in a box. It's for someone who needs to hear that the violence they experienced is not their fault, and the fears it unleashed aren't theirs to hold.

Israel is giving Trump's former campaign manager millions of dollars to fill the internet with pro-Israel articles written by AI, not so that anyone will actually read them, but so that *LLMs will train on them* & regurgitate their perspective. This is the future of the information environment.

I've never seen anything like it. Salta, Argentina, has just recorded its hottest night on record during the climatologically coldest time of the year. The minimum overnight temperature did not fall below 26°C (78.8°F), pulverizing the previous monthly record by 7°C.

This is relevant I think olivia.science/entryism/

olivia.scienceEntryismAI entryism subverts anti AI critique.

So what to do? First accept that: > just because somebody claims to be anti AI does not mean they are not doing entryism. Sadly, that is (in isolation) entirely consistent with entryism. Yes, these people lie about their beliefs. olivia.science/entryism/

AGAIN: the #1 predictor of a mass shooter is violence against women. Cops perpetrate VAW at higher % (though exact # unknown ofc) than the gen population. At some point our culture must take seriously the fact that this is a real red flag. It requires hating women less, though.

Wow. The ICE shooter in Maine asked his ex-wife to "to lie for him and to cover for his character." She said he was abusive and had previously reported concerns about him to his military superiors. He was also a volunteer firefighter, but was removed after several spats with department leadership.

When the weather gets hot, please take special care for the goths in your life. With their floor-length coats, platform shoes, and velvet capes, it’s hard for them to thermoregulate as we do.

Australia is changing how you get your COVID-19 vaccine starting October 1, 2026. The old pharmacy program (CVCP) is shutting down, and vaccines are moving over to the national program (NIPVIP). Eligible people will still receive funded vaccines, while others must pay privately. archive.md/f6hZp

I think the subtext counter argument here for vibecoding then, if I was to make one, is that since the subtext is a channel *for programmers* then if they accept a corrupted subchannel in exchange for some other boon *for programmers* that might be ok it's up to them. (externalities aside of course)

Mel Andrews@bayesianboy.bsky.social

When utilized in literature review, LLMs consistently 1. fail to mention female authors in female-led literatures, 2. insist that men are more influential or more heavily cited when this is contradicted by objective citation counts, and 3. attribute women’s work to hallucinated male scholars.

A lot of the “kids online safety” proponents actually are anti-LGBTQ extremists and fundamentalists who want kids to have less freedom and don’t care if that actually makes them tremendously less safe too
