So I'm at the NYCC entrance waiting a half hour for the contact at @darkhorse.com to get back to my text so I can get my badge for my signing at 12. Maybe my text didn't work? Emailed and left phone message bc this is making me anxious. Oy.

This story gets wild. Henning was accused of helping a kidnapping in 2023, where he facilitated Christina Block in getting her kids from her ex-husband by making introductions to an Israeli security company which grabbed the kids from Denmark. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

#BREAKING August Hanning, the former head of Germany's BND foreign intelligence service, has been arrested on suspicion of espionage, sources tell dpa

Henning likely got a deeper investigation in 2024 due to his involvement in the Block affair, supporting the kidnapping (or, at least, helping it happen). Anyway, just a fun little thing to add to Henning’s post-BND crime career.

Look. I know I go on about this all the time, but MIDNIGHT DINER is legitimately one of the best TV shows I have ever seen. Ever. As in, in my entire life. It's on Netflix. It is beautful.

We’re suing to block USPS’ rule restricting mail-in voting. This rule is an unlawful overreach that shows just how far President Trump will go to control elections—and we won’t stand for it. Your vote is your voice. We’re asking the court to ensure every person has the right to make theirs heard.

This isn't the first time the USA has placed 50% tariffs on Canada. In 1890, the USA's Tariff Act was touted as a way to build up American industry, but the true goal was forcing the annexation of Canada. It backfired and made Canada stronger. This is the story. 📸 LoC 🧵1/10

As I think about this over a beer, Finland is a bit like Europe’s Canada. Like, they’re really nice. But, oh boy, don’t go to war with them.

I was a historian of the atomic bomb decision from 1989-95 and coauthored an 800+ page book on the politics behind the decision. I’ve seen a lot of documentaries, but this is new to me. There were 78 people who survived underneath the explosion. This is how some of them survived. One is still alive.

So, I’m in The Hague, and I keep reading Dutch signs and filtering pronunciation through German, and ending up sounding like I’m from some small part of southern Alabama making fun of Bavarians. At least it kind of works.

Lyme was a weird disease you got in places where deer ticks were common. It tools decades to connect the two, and years more to isolate it to a bacteria in the tick. It’s been around a really goddam long time.

I hate that I agree with Moreno. I am staunchly in favor of Moreno losing his job and being thrown in an oubliette to be forgotten. But, I agree with this sentiment.

Wow. Senator Bernie Moreno says his former son-in-law, Congressman Max Miller, is unfit to hold office and needs serious psychological help. "He is a danger to my daughter, and I hold my breath every minute he has custody of my granddaughter."

Overnight, a masked bandit broke into our kitchen. Armed with opposable thumbs, he proceeded to sample everything on offer. I’d just visited the farmers market, so the menu was extensive. I can now share a highly specific peer-reviewed list of what this particular raider did & did not enjoy. 🧵
