Hey friends A local game studio just released their first title If you’re into narrative, suspense games, I’d be psyched if you supported my new indie dev friends by adding it to your steam wishlist or downloading it while it’s on sale store.steampowered.com/app/2828590/...

I was reminded of Noah Gibbs’ talk on ‘The Forty Year Programmer’ If you have, or are considering having, a career in software then I think this is worth 30 minutes of your time. Lots of wisdom here even for those of us similarly long in the tooth www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPkJ...
Noah embodied a lot of the things I love about the Ruby community. We were very lucky to know him and I will miss him. If you knew Noah please share your memories with his family via @nateberkopec.bsky.social
Noah Gibbs (codefolio, YJIT team, Rebuilding Rails author) has passed away. His big dream in life was to help build the Ruby community up. He wanted to be like the folks who worked to create the railroads during the industrial revolution.

I’m very wary when people anthropomorphize LLM behavior (i.e., self-reflection, motivations). It’s not dissimilar to presenting LLMs as an AGI-lite.
As I've written elsewhere: an LLM doesn’t have the metacognitive abilities to reflect on its past actions and report the motivations underlying them. With no clue why it did whatever it just did, the LLM is forced to guess wildly at a plausible explanation like ill-fated Leonard Shelby in Memento.

@nickyt.online recently introduced me to Inertia JS We’re exploring using it in a Rails 8 project (hosted on MSFT wtf) Is anyone using Rails + Inertia + Vite in production these days? Endorsements or horror stories?

Pro Tip: If you remove an unused index, make sure your ORM won't try and recreate it next time you restart the process. In completely unrelated news Discover and other bsky.app feeds should be back online now.
