I feel terrible asking this, but my debit card got stolen and I don’t currently have the funds in my account to cover some upcoming payments while I sort the dispute out with the bank. If anyone could help spot me, I would really appreciate that! V: @Ian-Coldwater CA: $iancoldwater PP: @coldwater

The reason people accuse of elitism is because this is an elitist stance. The idea that instead of shunning blue collar labor because it doesn’t pay enough or is hard on the body one could be advocating for better pay, working conditions, and healthcare for blue collar workers doesn’t even register.

Elizabeth Spiers@espiers.bsky.social

This is why I get pissed off when anyone accuses me of being an elitist when I say young people should go to college if they can. I say that because my dad was a local lineman and contractor who did heavy physical labor for years and has had chronic back pain since his early 30s

Watching a bunch of supposedly left-leaning tech workers toe the capitalist line that their labor of typing on keyboards is somehow superior to blue collar work is disappointing but not surprising. Why isn’t is surprising? Because I see how y’all treat service staff and workers at conferences.

As to the health effects of various types of labor, maybe look at some of the studies around what sitting at a desk, staring at a screen for 8-12 hours a day with overhead fluorescent lighting and hydrating yourself with energy drinks and Diet Coke does to your physical and mental health.

I did use Claude to help me format this idea out because I’ve never DM’d before. And it says 4, but we could possibly do 6.

On Sept 8 at 12:00 ET, we bring back former panelists, @elchefe.me (GenX), and @cassidoo.co (Millennial), and Divyasha Pahuja (GenZ) to talk about how all 3 generations can help each other in our new AI reality. Don’t miss it: buff.ly/tsuraZ2

I’m looking for new opportunities that contributing to open-source projects, in roles like Solutions Architect, Forward-Deployed Engineer, Dev Relations Engineer, or Product.

The way intersectionality drains from these liberal white women when the topic goes from men working to dismantle the patriarchy and transphobia to white women working to dismantle white supremacy and colonialism…

Remember when all the liberals said we were crazy for wanting to defund police? Shit like this is what happens when they have too many resources.

The anti-data center movement is like "I don't want to pay more money for a thing that will not benefit me at all and will actively make my life measurably worse in a bunch of ways" and the pro-data center movement is like "We want it to be illegal for you to not like us."

To be clear for non-tech followers: an LLM can only output content, such as text or images. That has no impact on the world until we make it so. Text output can be commands or tools called. But we have to explicitly wire those tools to the tool caller. If you do that without controls, that's on you.

The secret service have shot multiple innocent bystanders around the White House this year. The secret service has also been involved in at least 2 self-inflicted GSWs this year. In an era where ICE agents are shooting up our streets, the secret service has been able to stay under the radar.

Benjamin Del Real Jr. was visiting the White House with his father and sister on May 23 when a gunman opened fire on Secret Service agents across the street. As the agents returned fire, a bullet struck Del Real in the abdomen, his attorney said.

Leave it to Meta to delete my story naming David Brouillette, the ICE officer who murdered Joan Guerrero in Biddeford, ME on Monday. FWIW, Brouillette lives in the Bangor area, is a realtor for Realty of Maine, has a wife named Emma and two daughters. All publicly available information.

I’d taking some time off from meaningful training for several months. There were some changes at the gym and I’ve started coming back and training more often. The cardio wasn’t there at first for sure. Today, though, after I put it on a couple of people, I was asked “I take it you’re back?”

I’m unaware of terms like mudoko dako, quimbandas, chibados, or other pre-colonial African genders being used as slurs locally, but I’m very willing to be wrong 🤷🏽‍♂️

This *feels* like it’s invalidating non-binary and genderqueer folks. It could be better stated, at least. This is not to diminish the fact that people are using the argument to justify taking away the rights of trans folks, but it feels like throwing the baby out with the bath water.

One thing you can count on from the Dutch team is to have exactly no honor or integrity. Morocco should have attacked while that Dutch player was down because the Dutch certainly weren’t going return the favor.

I can’t recall a time when I knew of Peter Theil’s existence where I didn’t know he sucked. It’s the Elon Musk rule: if you didn’t already know he sucked it’s because you didn’t want to know. It was only until your own reputation was tarnished by association that you had a “sudden realization”.

Again: some of the names in here are from back when maybe ppl didn't know Exactly how much thiel sucks, but some of them are from as recently as this year and i just… How is anyone still taking Peter Thiel's money or his invitations *at this point*? We fully know who & what he is, now, so… don't go.

Seeing the videos of this and I was struck by how the police didn’t try to insert themselves into this and the crowd opened the way for the stretcher and helped get him down off that roof. I’m telling you, the city is different now, in the best way possible.
