@kcdragon.bsky.social has been dropping Ruby knowledge on me for over a decade. This will be great if you're able to make it!

Drew Bragg@drbragg.dev

Next week is Philly.rb! @kcdragon.bsky.social is joining us for an intro to Hotwire Native. If you’ve been curious about taking Rails to mobile without going all-in on Swift/Kotlin, this is a great chance to learn how teams are doing it in practice. RSVP here: www.meetup.com/phillyrb/eve...

Really excited for this one. Wale was one of the first people I connected with in Philly after finishing my bootcamp back in 2014. It's been great re-connecting at conferences the past few years.

Episode 67 has a bit of a temperature! 🌡️ In this one, we sit down with @wale-olaleye.bsky.social, founder of Rails Fever, to chat about building a software consulting business, marketing and sales outreach, refining your messaging, and the value of being local and in-person. www.indierails.com/67

Last week, I released a huge update for Spot Squid that lets shops pre-book time slots for events. They completely sold out the event in a few hours! Was awesome having a chance to stop by the event and see everything humming along in person. "It was incredible. So smooth. Everyone loved it..." 😤

Got to see Taking Back Sunday and Coheed and Cambria and Red Rocks this past weekend and the best way to describe it is it felt like a high school reunion, but one that I'd actually want to go to. Fred re-joined TBS and both bands went harder than any other show I've been to.

Merged a few hotfixes before review this morning and was trying to make a Cowboy Coding joke when sending an update. I attempted to put my face on Cowboy Curtis but ended up with this abomination and I can't stop laughing at it.

Meet Shardly Romelus, one of our Scholars attending this year's #RailsConf! 👋 Shardly is a Boston-based fullstack engineer who loves building with Rails and React and taking on big challenges (including running 250 miles in a month!)

Dinesh is the last person driving a Tesla because he's still stuck with his leases. Jian Yang starts smuggling from China to skirt tariffs. Big Head fell into bonkers money during Web3. Fiona the AI robot finds Richard and they start dating.

I feel like we might be due for a Silicon Valley reboot. Quote skeet with your story ideas...

With #RailsConf about a month away, I've been doing some reminiscing about my Philly days. Spent my 30th birthday at National Mechanics for the Weblinc holiday party and the Careless Whisper sax guy played Happy Birthday for me 😆

Lianna did a killer job helping me out with a landing page! This is a great chance to get some outside advice and save yourself from endless tinkering.

featherlight reminder that i will lovingly tear your landing page to shreds for less than the cost of your yearly netflix subscription: punchlinecopy.com/jab/

I've seen a few people mention that the actor that plays Greg on White Lotus also plays Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite. Watched The Monster Squad this past weekend and realized he's also the human version of the Wolfman! Why am I just now finding this out?!

Deployed a huge update for a client yesterday that re-writes their frontend to use Inertia + Rails. After working with Inertia the past couple of months, it's really been growing on me.

Doesn’t appear to be a big following over here but any one looking to attend @microconf.com I have a member of my mastermind group looking to offload an extra ticket at a discount. Shoot me a message and I can connect you if you’re interested

A Ruby tattoo has been on my list for a long time. I thew out this idea to my tattoo artist a few months ago and after floating out a couple of ideas for my appointment, this was the one he wanted to do the most. So stoked with how it turned out!

Had a customer in my neck of the woods yesterday that reached out to me to grab a drink at a local Mexican restaurant. Customer feedback is way easier to get over tequila shots.

I'm almost 40 and haven't touched a snowboard in about 20 years but decided this past weekend was time to knock the dust off. My old dude skate sessions have been paying off and did 11 miles over 25 trails and only fell 2-3 times.

Our learnhotwire.com course is going to be hefty. I have 46 lessons recorded for the Rails + Hotwire section and more to come. That doesn't include @williamkennedy.ninja's iOS and Android portion either. Should be the most complete Hotwire course when we're done.

Shipped some big Spot Squid upgrades today! Upgraded to Rails 8 and Ruby 3.4 while also swapping the admin panel to Madmin. I've been stuck on so many outdated projects in the past and it's such a drain.

So pumped for Philly. I’m gonna be pounding City Wides and cheesesteaks

A reminder that you can easily submit CFPs to conferences on Diversify Tech. 👉🏾 www.diversifytech.com/speak We'll share it in our newsletter that goes out to 20k people who come from an underrepresented group in tech.

It is the year 2025. I should not be landing on your conference website and seeing a line up of only men.

There's a lot of reasons why I live having tattoo shops and artists as customers. One of my favorites has to be their feedback when they like something. "Dude!! That fuckin rules!!!" "No that's fuckin spectacular" I'm almost 40 now, is that too old to say it hits different?
