didn't think that a 3 hour movie that shows a donkey ripping an 8 second fart on a 4:3 frame would get me so perplexed.

BlueSky seems to be the only platform not actively doing stuff like this. Threads throttles news, etc.

Meta took down the No Kings instagram; TikTok banned the Musk documentary account for supposedly violating its political posting policies. Pay attention Dems. Gov Beshear won twice, in a deep red state, and never threw trans people under the bus. He led with compassion rather than the fear and cowardice we've seen from some of our Ohio candidates and party leadership.

NEWS — Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear criticizes fellow Democrats who say transgender athletes should be barred from women’s sports. “That is not the party that we are. We start as a party of compassion and empathy.”

The thing I don't think dems who have lost Texas understand: ceding ground to Republican talking points doesn't win you voters. No one who thought you stood with The Trans Menace is going to vote for you even if you say you don't. They're fuckin' crazy. All you're doing is losing Progressive votes.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

So the Dems Project 2029 has... basically the same Section 230 policy the GOP had in Project 2025. Greeeeeeat work guys.

alpha @omarsbigsister.bsky.social

Dems' "Project 2029" first major policy proposal: an online child safety plan — narrowing Sec. 230, banning social media for kids under 16, promoting phone-free childhoods and more. Already backed by Cory Booker, Mikie Sherrill, Randi Weingarten + Jonathan Haidt. LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

So at the end of my #degoogling journey, what is still Google and why? - Pixel (Bootload friendly, good!) - Play Store for Android Auto. - Waze for Android Auto. - Assistant for Android Auto. - Lens (Optional?)

What do I still want? - A non-fascist government. - non-bootlicking tech companies. - an Open Source Android Auto alternative. - Tap-to-pay support for other wallet apps. - RCS support for other messaging apps. - Good legislation around breaking down "walled-gardens"

Aurora Store is wonderful. Some apps are only published on the play store, so Aurora makes it possible to access those apps. Android Auto is the only reason I need the Play Store app at all.

Lens and Assistant have no solid alternatives. They're also optional. Assistant has Android Auto integrations that no other voice apps support. Lens has some alternatives, but you'll find they too, are from unsavory organizations.

Google Wallet and Messages (RCS). No alternatives. Totally locked down system. Either use what Google gives, or kick rocks. Crazy. These should be open standards. (Google's whole pitch with RCS was to whine about iMessage not being open, and it created the same system. Nasty behavior.)

Android Auto works with GrapheneOS which rocks, but basically any non-Google navigation app won't work; Gmaps, Waze, or GTFO. Plus you gotta use developer mode to get Aurora apps working. Which brings us to our next point. Android Auto FORCES you to have the Google play app.

Ironically the best phone (at the moment) to #degoogle, is a pixel. You can put GrapheneOS on it, and free yourself of baked in Google apps. However, This doesn't mean you've freed yourself from the worlds Google have monopolized.

YouTube. Probably my most used app, and there are no real alternatives. A monopoly by brand positioning? Nobody does what they do to any real degree. I think I see a way to avoid YouTube without getting too annoyed, but we'll see how it goes.

If folks want help degoogling or moving away from Meta or other sponsors, let me know. I'm happy to talk about it. There are surprising gotchas:
