I’m going to mail mine as usual. I have confidence in the county elections office tracking ballot status and I have an odd sense of pride in the USPS being involved in our state process . If it were to not arrive and I don’t receive a confirmation, I have time to cure it.

What the fuck man

Councilor Mitch Green@councilorgreen.bsky.social

Today in the Housing and Permitting Committee Chair Avalos had to interrupt and call to order Brian Owendoff who violated our rules of decorum and engaged in ableist slurs at the dais. Mr. Owendoff’s comments were deplorable and the chair was right to gavel him out.

What is there even to say at this point. Anyone who continues to be associated with this scummy plutocrat should not be trusted and their character aught to be questioned.

The logic that structures and enforces a society of haves and have-nots to the extent that a mother can't afford something as basic as diapers for her baby is the same logic that will justify the murder of said baby over said stolen diapers.

Ashton Pittman@ashtonpittman.bsky.social

JUST IN: The police shooting that killed 1-year-old Kohen Wiley as he sat in his mother’s lap in a Walmart parking lot in Senatobia, Miss., in June “was justified,” Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s office said on Monday. Her office will not charge the white officer who shot the child.

Revitalize Portland Coalition is notably not based in Portland. It's for the wealthy 1% and real estate speculators from the suburbs to try and extract wealth at the expense of Portlanders.

The most elite Nextdoor/Reddit curmudgeons have yet to understand this. They don't want to understand it. They will always need someone (else) to blame

The Portland Metro Chamber and local conservative/centrist interests act like the left are going to run this city into the ground. As if PMC and centrists didn’t have control of this city for decades and aren’t greatly responsible for many things in this town being as fucked up as they are.

Who is a kid, according to Olivia Clark? Here's my best guess: KID Morillo - 30 Avalos - 38 Kanal - 40 Koyama Lane - 40 Dunphy - 42 Green - 44 NOT A KID Zimmerman - 42 (41?) Pirtle Guiney - 41 Smith - 61 Ryan - 64 Novick - 63 Clark - 72

Portland city council by age, take 2: Angelita Morillo - 30 Candace Avalos - 38 Sameer Kanal - 40 Tiffany Koyama Lane - 40 Elana Pirtle Guiney - 41 Jamie Dunphy - 42 Eric Zimmerman - 42 (41?) Mitch Green - 44 Loretta Smith - 61 Dan Ryan - 64 Steve Novick - 63 Olivia Clark - 72

A Portland Solutions but instead of committing low level daily atrocities it's good and supports extremely cool and effective programs that get shit done + help our most vulnerable neighbors get a leg up in life and support a life w/ dignity. This is what we should be funding and supporting!

> “We would hope the city would recognize that we stepped in to fill a gap in the system on a shoestring budget for years,” Cass Talbott said. “That gap still exists.”

Fair question, this should already be settled business in Portland. Vote Green, Evenstar, Beausoleil Smith in D4 and tell your friends.

I am more concerned about people in power who are acting in the interest of the Portland Metro chamber than I am about decorum Why would we elect a riot cop who brutalized -people demonstrating about *Black people dying at the hands of the police* -legal observers -old people -my neighbors

Relatedly, if the city does go ahead and start clearing the intersections, inshallah, it needs to be paired with a pro-active enforcement plan. Not complaint driven. Pro. Active. Otherwise we'll be back where we started. If you can tell, I am not optimistic 😤

I've worked on this issue with PBOT for almost two decades. Unfortunately there is a persistent culture within the bureau that (1) we need to preserve as many parking stalls as possible, especially in commercial areas

Portland needs to get its shit together and daylight every intersection. If the City won't do it, we need to. If we are serious about Vision Zero, we need to de-prioritize car storage and prioritize our own lives. www.oregonlive.com/commuting/20...

On that last point, that may in effect be true, but there are clearly tradeoffs that impact other road users. My worst experiences with these intersections is as a driver. It's like you have to cross your fingers and just "go for it" because you can't actually see cross traffic.

There have been several policy overtures to respond to this, but the city's approach continues to be piecemeal. Unfortunately with the continuing lack of good leadership (and oversight!) at PBOT, lawsuits and deaths are the ultimate needle movers for systemic action at the bureau. RIP Elijah Coe.

(2) signage is expensive and once you put up a few signs on a corridor, you have to put them everywhere and paint is not viable enough even though Seattle has done it for years (3) some engineers like the visibility blocking element of parked cars and believe it slows drivers down.

It feels noteworthy how much the O's endorsements (and rationale for them) reflect the perspective of a specific class of civic leaders profoundly disinterested in any reflection of why the DSA's leaders are ascendant or what possible benefits they could be bringing to our city

mitch (he/him)@drmitchpdx.bsky.social

i never expected the O to endorsement me, and I’m not surprised they only discussed the headlines they’ve chosen to make about me. but, i’m pissed about how they’ve reduced Tiffany’s contributions. she’s done more than anyone in our races to build a functioning council.

Hey remember when Dan Ryan ran as a friend of Commissioner Hardesty and a staunch supporter of police reform, then did a 180 when it no longer served him? Guess who was his Chief of Staff for years, praises him publicly and privately, defended his police vote, and got a max donation from him 🤔

pnwpolicyangel aka Angelita 👼@pnwpolicyangel.bsky.social

As a candidate you have to sit with other candidates on approximately 10,000 panels so when they just switch their answer the very next day for a new audience it enrages me to no end lol Like please stop lying to these nice people who are trying to figure out who to vote for you’re being a ghoul

@trimet.org Since when is racial profiling passengers part of your repertoire or do you have a rogue employee acting out of line? My daughter rode the MAX Red Line this evening after leaving campus at PSU. One of your employees boarded & proceeded to check every POC's fare EXCEPT for the white men.

When I have a phone that can't hold a charge, I don't leave it at home, I'd have it plugged into the wall at my office. I also wouldn't bother trading it in because it's typically not worth anything in that state and age. Instead, I chuck it in a drawer with my other old phones.

Portland Mercury@portlandmercury.com

Dan Ryan is under a court order not to delete messages from his personal phone, which may contain public records. In court documents, Ryan said he no longer has the phone he's been using, because his spouse traded it in the same day a judge barred him from deleting records. He says nothing was lost.

Can we agree traffic was mostly fine with this so-called critical part of the Eastbank Freeway offline for several weeks? Let's plan for a future that doesn't include a highway occupying this useful and desirable area for housing development along our central Willamette waterfront forever and ever

Just once I'd love for the city to take an issue like "trees blocking the bike lane throughout the corridor" and just handle it, rather than tell people to file individual complaints. Is it that hard to have staff bike the entire route, document it and then fix the problems?

Are we still so stuck in silos that Urban Forestry can't roll up and help out? Is this PBOT saying "not my circus" ? I do have less hope for a long term solution to the garbage can thing.

All it takes is a couple uses of Rose Parks and Willamette to know the trees and garbage cans have been a perennial issue. How many people want to stop on their commute, whip out a phone and spend 5-10 minutes PER ADDRESS.

We rarely get the opportunity for a holistic approach to a corridor like Willamette outside of projects just like this. To have that opportunity and then wave off actionable feedback while crews are still out there is inefficient and leads to further frustration with the overall good project.

These jabronies think they're slick, but they're so gd messy.

A new complaint filed Monday alleges a web of new committees funded by the Metro Chamber's United for Portland PAC violated local and state elections laws by obscuring the true funding source of political billboards and filing false campaign-finance statements.
