Let's do it. Legislators need to hear from you if you support this!

Specifically on revenue reform, we are calling for: 1. Adoption of the kicker methodology bill that Rep. Gamba has carried 2. Taking on Measures 5 and 50 directly 3. Fully decouple from HR 1 We're also calling for action on local revenue measures under consideration by Council (i.e., Fair Share).

Over the last several days I've heard directly from parents who are scared and outraged about the PPS proposals for closure of their schools. They are calling for action from their elected officials at all levels. Today I have filed an emergency that responds to the urgency of these calls. 🧵

If we want leaders who show up for us, we have to show up for them ✊️ Spent the morning knocking doors for @jameyevenstar.bsky.social , including this house (they encouraged me to take a pic!) and others. People were receptive and in good spirits, and got some #1 vote converts. Time well spent.

About Portland's election: it's important to remember that the Democratic Party of OR and majority of your organized labor support the status quo, not progressive change. Grasping to hold onto power, these fauxgressives working against the DSA candidates are de facto moving your place to the right.

Obama in Michigan: "He is focused on home renovations. He should be on HGTV! ... He's got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory"

love Portland so much. We just spent the afternoon biking around with Cassie's mom (visiting from Seattle) and Parker. The weather was beautiful. This morning I got to talk local politics with neighbors, then knock doors for people I actually believe in. I am lucky. This place rules.

“He should be on HGTV,” Mr. Obama said, ridiculing Mr. Trump’s focus on applying gold trimmings to the White House. “He’s got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory. Just gold everywhere.” 💀

I'm honored for my extremely colorful backpack to have made the cut ❤️

Let’s canvass! Talk to your neighbors about why we need Mitch Green, Tiffany Koyama Lane, and Angelita Morillo on Portland City Council!

Knocking doors; spoke with a teacher with two young kids. He said I'm the first to knock his door, and because of my comments about how Angelita treated me and treats staff and those with less power than her with respect (and other reasons), he is "definitely" ranking her 1. THIS IS WHY WE CANVASS

This person blocked me, and they aren't the only one with "VOTE DEMOCRAT, AND IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT BETTER STRATEGY, YOU MUST BE THE ENEMY!!" energy. I am a Democrat. I have worked for two Democratic Governors and interned twice for a Democratic Senator. I want Democrats to be better.

You are having trouble so let me help you: my post asks whether or not the spam texts are effective strategy. Whether they work for anyone. I am commenting on it because it affects me. Does that help you understand the limited scope of the post?

truly do believe the fate of human civilization at this point ultimately relies on millennials not following the reactionary selfish footsteps of gen x and boomers as our generation slowly accumulates power and money

Does the Democratic Party really think we want (no joke) 40 texts over three days for races in state we do not live in? Does this work? Does anyone like this?

Also, this dude is using Tom McCall as his avi? Tom McCall would have HATED this guy, would have supported the Fair Share proposal (Google "McCall Tax Plan"), and then probably would have come up with a sharp zinger to dismiss him.

This post is unavailable.

I am concerned about how much (or rather, how little) autonomy the City will have as part of this authority which as a whole has very different incentives and risks than the City who will be most impacted by what's negotiated.

Councilor Angelita Morillo@councilormorillo.bsky.social

I voted NO on the Moda Center’s Oregon Arena Joint Authority, which passed 8-4. I want the Blazers to stay. but as working families face service cuts, I cannot support a nearly $600 million arena project without adequate public safeguards. Billionaires should not receive a blank check.

Want Blazers stuff? Follow my Blazers account!

Brandon Mullen@brandonmullen.bsky.social

As the Blazers' 21-0 lead is finally chipped into, just want to note that Dame hysterically has played the entire first quarter of every game, and he came out halfway through. Given Portland's personnel, this makes a ton of sense.

When I am elected to Federal office, I will introduce legislation to disallow advertisements on streaming services you are paying for. My approval rating will be north of 90%.

If you live in Clackamas County, PLEASE consider running for office. There aren’t nearly enough good folks running out there.

Hey ya'll, I know we have an election we need to focus on in a few weeks, but since we're all thinking about elections anyway... PLEASE give a thought about 2028. Feel free to take a break after November for a bit (it's healthy to rest!), but really and truly we gotta get some more wins.

He did this last time and it didn’t work so he should figure out a new strategy. It’s possible to do garbage pickup w/o displacing ppl, discarding meds, IDs, making it harder for them to get back on their feet. It’s not possible to perpetuate failed systems & wonder why the problem isn’t improving

tuba pudding jr@tubapuddingjunior.bsky.social

rob nosse just sent out his endorsements and it includes an unhinged thing about how morillo won't support sweeps and that's somehow supposed to be bad

I really like the idea of a 13th, citywide Council member as President: - It (potentially, depending on how you define their duties) gives the legislative branch a bit more power - Allows Council to break their own ties - Allows that role to be more impartial and less connected to any one district

Terry J. Harris@trryjhrrs.bsky.social

(P.S. I'm also long of the opinion that Council needs a President elected at-large with clearer and stronger authorities to manage the legislative branch. There are also other lingering structural problems that need to be fixed in the charter. Today's discussion is sadly not that discussion.)

Related: I am trying to practice protecting my energy more deliberately, which means no longer forcing myself to engage with folks who refuse to engage in good faith. This practice will be imperfect, but I hope I get better at it.

Today, @portlandmercury.com spoke with the creator, candidates, and backers to hear why state data analysis reveals an overlap.

The mayor caved to Trump, removed DEI language, and this connected developer is dropping the r slur in public meetings and calling me a burrito in racist group chats but according to Willy Week the Big decorum issue is that I’m too mean talking about racism and sexism and other isms in this space

Today in the Housing and Permitting Committee Chair Avalos had to interrupt and call to order Brian Owendoff who violated our rules of decorum and engaged in ableist slurs at the dais. Mr. Owendoff’s comments were deplorable and the chair was right to gavel him out.

"I’m here to collect donations for Portland Clean Air to help fight diesel pollution. If you give a donation, it’ll be matched from the city, 10 to 1." That seems... incredibly unethical. I also don't understand why this is legal. Am I missing something?

The canvassing group received criticism that it was stretching the boundaries of the public campaign financing program and misleading voters whom it canvassed.

I’m very critical of Tina Kotek and people need to vote for her anyway. There’s no ranked choice in this race. The governor has the power to call in the national guard, or affect voting. That alone is too important. Christine Drazan is too dangerous. Hold your nose and do it.
