I wonder how much it is to guarantee never ever having a meet and greet with Amol, or any chance of one spontaneously occurring.

Amol Rajan’s membership tiers…that is scandalous.

Imagine being someone who lives their life like this, terrified of everything, being the End of Days. It’s pitiful.

If you imagine lying in a warm bath reading Denis Johnson & Ray Carver's best short stories, that's how a #Delines gig goes down. Gorgeous music, one of the most beautiful voices around, and sad, frayed songwriting right up there with anything else. Wonderful gig @gosforthcivictheatre.co.uk

This is a sad and moving read. Although Archer went to prison for being a perjurer, he still came out of this better and glided back into a better life than the woman he paid for sex.

It’s monstrous that people would consider trying to kill 1000 beings that are hundreds of years old and take 150 years to even reach sexual maturity, purely because they interfere with fishing for halibut. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Track my mood every day using my copies of the Fontana series of Great Ghost Stories. Today’s a solid Volume 11. What about you?

Still, in good news today our legislators have safeguarded me and those I love from a future of being able to choose not to suffer and die in event of weeks and months of pain when terminally ill.

Every train company in the UK is the Eddie the Eagle of train companies. Every one of them. It’s at the point now when I expect to be late or miss a connection every time I travel. Useless, useless gougers.

Having a relaxing first day off as the Clacton returning officer after a busy by-election. Phew, that was exhausting work! Wouldn’t want to go through all that again any time soon.

In other news tonight: BBC buy disconsolate Chris Mason an emotional support puppy. Every journalist, friend or family of journalist, or anyone who owns a notebook banned from the Reform Conference. Tired TV comedy writer with neck pain says oh no, please not the bin again.

Don’t let folks tell you Gen Z students can’t read. Kicked-off my Duke first-year class with this favorite Lydia Davis story - projected text onto a whiteboard so we could annotate by hand. So many smart and insightful readings, by a group of 18 year-olds in their first week of university life.
