Apologies for the source (takes cunts to know cunts) but Richard Tice's wedding seems like it was scripted by fucking Dante.

Think the digital security stories recently have been ominous? Well, it’s about to get worse.

Simon Willison@simonwillison.net

Notes on Kimi K3.1 - this one is a big deal, the first time an open weights (well, soon-to-be open weights) model has competed this credibly with the current frontier simonwillison.net/2026/Oct/23/...

This is disgusting. But even though this is presumably what Trump wanted to happen, seems inevitable (and indeed desirable) that control over where Starlink operates will be taken over by the US government. Absolutely insane that Musk could make this decision privately.

Compare to how the US government now effectively has sign off over the release of frontier models - no way strategic capabilities could be left in private hands.

Attaching caps to bottles is nothing to do with carbon emissions (it is for broader environmental sustainability concerns), and the Tesla stunt used compressed nitrogen, which isn’t a greenhouse gas. But aside from that, great point.

If you have an exact digital replica of your factory and you can accurately simulate it, you can model and experiment for much cheaper, monitor operations and train staff more safely. But I guess there are fewer reposts and likes explaining that.

🚨 Ireland is freeing its version of the Postcode Address File! 🚨

Richard Cantwell@manaboutcouch.bsky.social

So the Irish Government launched the 'Intelligence:Applied' programme at the AI Summit last week. Buried in the aspirational goals (see here: www.gov.ie/en/departmen...) is this particularly interesting nugget. It looks like the #Eircode database may become #OpenData! Grain of salt required.

Imagine buying so much Amol Rajan merch that paying £299 a year for a 30% discount makes financial sense

Daniel McElroy@danielmcelroy0.bsky.social

Amol Rajan’s membership tiers…that is scandalous.

Grim reading. It felt like the rationalists were so close to final victory around 2011-ish (well, maybe), but the counter-enlightenment since has been fierce.

What I post: Lots of worthy reasons why people seek support, lack of trust in institutions, 8-minute GP appointments aren't enough, people want a sense of control, etc. What I think in my head: I have nothing but contempt for people who believe in psychics.

Once again, out-of-touch elite @mjrobbins.com is on the wrong side of public opinion.

'Picky bits' is not like the others on the list though. If you hate it you need to come up with a better name for the stuff you buy from that very specific section of M&S.
