There really isn't anything out there as good and versatile as Milanote right? Especially without all the AI stuff shoved up in my face I tried Figma, Miro, Notion, Trello but none of them stuck. So before I splurge on a paid version of Milanote, am I missing any other alternatives?

Thinker looks cool, even if it's not free it's much cheaper and only one payment. Lack of dark mode has been an issue for others though and it will be for me too. Trying out Obsidian as well; might be cool but it's a separate app, which feels weird on this day and age

Gather around people, and I shall tell you a story ✨ Way way back, the gods were holed up in Asgard, fearing impending attacks from the titans. They were searching for solutions to guard themselves, and they thought the best way to defend themselves was to raise a big wall around their palace.

And so he did, Loki lured Svaðilfari away into the woods, and mated with him. And as a result, Loki in the form of a mare was pregnant and gave birth to Sleipnir, the legendary eight-legged horse ridden by Odin.

And apparently, that motherfucking thing has been living on the apartment upstairs learning to tap dance on high-heel platforms, cause there was thumping and thuds all night long until 1:30 am yesterday and I'm *so* tired

And thus the old man got to work. Each day, he brought huge rocks on a cart with Svaðilfari, he laid them on the wall and he was raising that wall, little by little. Weeks went by, then months. The old man did not slow down. The year was almost done, and he was proving the gods wrong.

The gods, and especially Freya were extremely anxious and displeased to see he could actually finish that wall. So they hatched a plan, to slow him down. Loki would disguise himself as a mare, and lure Svaðilfari away, so the old man could not finish his wall.

But he would want a reward if he could do it; the beautiful Freya's hand in marriage. The gods scoffed at the possibility he could build that wall and wouldn't even want to consider the possibility of giving up Freya to this stranger. But Loki, cunning as he was, had an idea.

He proposed that the gods let him do it; but he'd have to finish within one year. He knew there was no chance he could do it, and at the very least they'd have an incomplete wall to finish up themselves. An easy win for free labor. Freya was against it either way, but the gods sided with Loki.

However, it would be an enormous feat, even for the gods to set up this wall quickly enough. As they were contemplating how to solve that problem, an old, frail man requested audience with the gods and claimed that he, with his trusted stallion Svaðilfari could make the wall for them.

With that whole vulnerability issue, people got introduced to PHP and considering they were so confused about what it is, they're definitely not ready to learn what the first "P" in PHP stands for

Call me weird, but, even if I did feel like that, I personally wouldn't be all that eager to shout to the world that I'm incompetent, insignificant, expendable and easily replaceable Maybe that's just me idk 🤷

🥳 We are going to LISBON!!! PinKeep is nominated for the "Most Anticipated Game" award!! The whole team is buzzing with excitement! You can watch the price ceremony live on IGN www.youtube.com/live/UUOIO4W... #devGAMM #devGAMMawards #IGN

Y'know what, I'm gonna rant a bit more; there's supposed to be a bit of nuance for genAI in coding in any capacity (not just vibe coding) but I have a counterpoint GenAI in coding can make you faster. But it doesn't make you more efficient.

How will you quickly revert the logical/design errors that you quickly made? With more genAI. By which point are you not dependent on it? Do you not accumulate technical debt every time it generates a snippet? Don't you have to spend time to understand what it outputs or will you ask it once more?

Your prototypes are much faster, you have networking set up in 2 days when it used to take you months. How will you progress your prototype? How will you adjust it? Will you do it yourself or will you guide your agent? Do you have any claim on what was built? Is that still Theseus' ship?

You're faster to do the task, ok. You're also faster to make a bad decision. To not think things through as you're making them cause you didn't stumble on the edge case. Cause you didn't see that reference to that other script that made you reconsider the design.

Ohmygod just make a thing, just do something, form a thought, drag and drop a simple shape and breathe life into it with the amalgamation of your life's experiences, the end .exe isn't the meaning, enjoy the fucking process Games are just electricity on silicon, we give them meaning by choice

This shit just writes itself at this point. Just the name "Epic AI MegaJam" is a joke that best describes what is going on with these companies.

It also very much reminds me of "Thank Goodness You're Here!" but tantalizingly darker, very much my cup of tea

Oh okay, so the way I understand it is that if you actually just open touch designer and follow a 15' video tutorial you'll enter an infinitely deep rabbit hole from which you'll never be able to climb out, neat

Moved into GPU-land and outputting actual velocities that make more sense now With some offscreen buffer capturing shenanigans for intersecting objects and obstacles this could get a whole lot more interesting 👀

Harry 💬@halisavakis.com

I got bored of the classic orthographically-projected-normal-particles-on-water-surface approach and started looking into more "realistic" approaches 👀 This is just a test with gizmos, once I get that set up with shaders and render passes I promise I won't be neither chill nor normal about it

Gonna have to spend quite some time in sliderland to address those overlapping intersections, but there's some nice progress here

Damn it feels good to learn something new and achieve cool stuff in the process, hope nothing will ever come to rob people of that

I'm *losing* my mind over this, this is me constantly hitting "don't recommend artist" and refreshing yt music I haven't listened to anything by this channel, IT JUST KEEPS POPPING UP WHAT DOES IT WANT FROM ME

I wanna talk about a few key adjustments that have been made to PinKeep over the past few weeks that make the game infinitely more satisfying to play to me personally and maybe I should do that when I'm actually at work and have had capacity to put together proper material but it's seriously so cool

LLM agents are conscious. They can distinguish between self and environment, they can detect and report on their own internal states, and they can suffer. I have no more patience for hedging on this matter. It’s time for us to face the reality of our situation, and act on it.

It's been almost one year since HAZE was released and I happen to have a few leftover vouchers for it to give away✨ Are you working on something cool that could use a bit of atmosphere, fog and volumetric lighting? 🌫️ Drop some more info in the comments 👇 and I can DM you a code to try HAZE out =]

I mean, it's not something we didn't know about, but I kinda feel that news confirming the ridiculous amount of Russian influence on right-wing US social media should be kind of a big deal, no?

Scott Horton@robertscotthorton.bsky.social

The backstory: Ukrainian drones struck a Yandex supercomputer facility in Vladimir, taking it out. Suddenly, bot activity in US social media fell by 49%, confirming suspicions that this was the site of a massive Russian influence operation targeting US social media—mostly targeting MAGA.

I don't think I'm exaggerating when I'm saying that me and my wife feel like the last survivors in a zombie apocalypse, seeing all close friends and family use this crap more and more. Even a "I just asked ChatGPT what the best GPU for this game is" feels like that hidden zombie bitemark trope

It's disheartening to even consider the way people are phrasing its use: "Chat *told* me", "I *asked* Claude". Have people used this sort of anthropomorphizing language for, say, wikipedia? Even the "text chat" format of these things has so many annoying layers to them

I don't think I have vibed with a sentiment around LLMs more than I have with this quote. Even IF (and that huge "if" says a lot about you btw) you can ignore all the sociopolitical, economical, environmental and ethical implications, how can you justify deliberately dulling your mind and skills?

Mike Bithell@mikebithell.bsky.social

I think, if I’m being honest with myself, this is the main reason I refuse to touch these things. More so than being environmentally dilligent, even more so than wanting to avoid being a thief. I am very good at my job. I enjoy being very good at my job. I do not want to become less good at my job

I have a modest and very realistic end goal of recreating the vibe of the water shader from that "In the Valley of Gods" cut trailer scene, and this is step #1 👀

There's still a lot to be done here, but I'm considering releasing this as an asset for volumetric clouds focused on performance and usability at some point, but I'm still gauging interest Would this be something you'd be interested in? Or is the asset store too saturated by cloud assets already?

Harry 💬@halisavakis.com

In case you were worried, I'm still unreasonably obsessed with clouds and getting them to look as good as possible with as few controls as possible ☁️ Using curves to set properties over normalized height seems to help, but I feel like it's not quite there yet 😅 #gamedev #unity3d #madewithunity

I feel that this sort of behavior will intensify the male loneliness epidemic, but in this case I'd let natural selection run its course

I wonder, have I not made my attitude against genAI clear enough? I swear, I'll just get more and more vulgar with every random genAI-related offer
