Alex Haley grew up in Tennessee. He traced his family tree back to his original enslaved, African ancestor, then wrote 'Roots'. He received a Pulitzer Prize for it. Knoxville just banned it 'cause it might make white kids sad.

I GASPED reading this. I can’t help but believe that if these were yt women this wouldn’t have happened regardless of the statute.

Unless and until we do court expansion, we’re governed by the whims of 6 unelected, lawless, reactionary hacks in robes who are 100% making it up as they go.

this is some bullshit. the Court is giving sovereign immunity to postal workers who allegedly engaged in intentional racial discrimination Thomas's rationale is that you can't sue the government over lost mail, but there's a difference between mail that's lost and mail that's withheld bc of racism!

How’s that 23 and Me looking now? The sheer stupidity of giving your DNA to a corporation and NOT expecting it to be improperly used or exposed… Lordy.

Again..between @angryblacklady.blacksky.app and @elienyc.bsky.social - I feel like I am regularly attending an incredible Constitutional Law class. Really great article.

It is profoundly disgusting how all-in they are.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. It would only take a tiny handful of Republican Congress members or senators to stop the slide of America toward authoritarian fascism, but nope. They're all in.

Renee Good’s last words were to ICE agent Jonathan Ross: “That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad at you.” Then Ross shot Renee three times in the face. As she was dying, his last words to her were: “Fucking bitch.” And JD Vance thought that exchange exonerated ICE. That says it all.

@elienyc.bsky.social is my go-to legal scholar in this cluster phuck of a dictatorship. He is always on point.

ElieNYC@elienyc.bsky.social

The ICE agent who murdered Renee Good must be prosecuted for murder. He enjoys no immunity from state murder charges. Then, Blue state governors must call up their National Guard to protect us from the armed ICE terrorists. My latest in @thenation.com www.thenation.com/article/soci...

We are a rogue state run by a dictator and should be treated as such. Other countries should expel our diplomats and sanction the crap out of us. Canada, Mexico, and Greenland should take appropriate safety measures because this admin has no regard for our Constitution nor any international laws.

White people only break out this ‘we’ when they do something objectively awful and don’t want to take the blame for it. There’s no ‘we’ when it comes to health, education or stopping police murder. US history details white people making unilateral decisions to the detriment of humanity itselfs

Ann Lowe was the Black genius behind Jackie Kennedy’s iconic wedding gown. Before the fashion world was ready to credit a Black woman’s talent, Lowe was already designing for America’s most powerful families. Brilliant. Bold. Innovative. Undervalued. And nearly erased from history.

@npr.org - this is a Constituional Right. To imply that it is a "principle" undermines the inalieable Constutional right of these individuals born on US soil. Do Better.

If you’re too afraid to do your job, you should quit your job. If you’re too afraid to report on what’s going on because you’re afraid of MAGA death threats, you should stop being a reporter. if you’re too afraid to vote against honoring a white nationalist due to death threats, you should resign.

I really was not prepared for the fact that so many of our major institutions would be inhabited by such cowards. From Congress to media/tech corporations to *some law firms and universities. I guess I watched too many “heroic protagonist” films… so I didnt expect so many people to suck so bad.
