I think I did alright on my midterm. Being on campus at San Jose City College on a rainy day reminds me of being at Evergreen. I miss it there. some people leave their hearts in San Francisco, I left mine in Olympia.

I remember saying this during the Biden years when everyone was hating on rainbow capitalism.

Yes, of course McDonald’s posting about National Coming Out Day is “performative.” Nobody thinks Ronald McDonald threw the first brick at Stonewall. Nonetheless, the biggest and most influential institutions in American life performing affirmation of LGBT social and civil equality is a good thing.

Turns out Rainbow Capitalism is good because the alternative isn’t Rainbow Communism

that’s right

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

And the thing about the Talarico smear: Do these trolls not get that highlighting the fact that Paxton's polling SANK during a period when Talarico was not campaigning makes him stench of loser vibes?

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

The Omar story today and the Talarcio story yesterday are the same story of rat-fucking your opponents before an election. Except now the government does it, out in the open.

This is an excellent point. When pro-democracy, anti-corruption forces get power, they won't need elaborate new laws to start getting Elon Musk, Palmer Luckey, Peter Thiel, and other tech oligarchs out of government. They've almost certainly committed fraud and other already existing crimes.

The Bi of Hormuz@joshstein.bsky.social

I agree with this completely, but I think we should also recognize the opportunity here. These three people will commit lots of demonstrable fraud in these contracting processes, and it provides a critical opportunity to for IGs and the DOJ to publicly address military industrial corruption.

School boards are way under the radar in a big year like this, but the same battles you've heard about (book bans, Moms for Liberty, trans kids) are happening this year too. I identified 19 school boards where there battles like this — and what's up: boltsmag.org/whats-on-the...

Big reason for the attack on “woke” these last few years was to diminish racial and ethnic self-awareness in advance of an assault from a government captured by white nationalist scumbags. They want you to think about Oberlin students complaining about bahn mi while they build concentration camps

the culture shift myth needs to be studied as well

Adam Gurri@adamgurri.liberalcurrents.com

Great analysis from Greg. The Republican Party is still overwhelming the white man's party. Racial depolarization, never mind "multiracial MAGA," is mostly a mirage, at best the soft bigotry of low expectations

Ossoff is one of the very few people adequately channeling Evelyn Normielib these days the base doesn't want to hear entreaties to our better natures, they don't want to go high while the other side goes low, they want someone to come on the TV and go "these people are garbage" he's good at it

Bill McKibben@billmckibben.bsky.social

Figuring out why Ossoff is so effective is an interesting task. I think he's mastering a kind of stern dignity that is uniquely compelling in contrast to the clownish cruelty of the other side. I think the other person who's kind of hit on the same thing is AOC, though in a different register

You know, Jean Twenge has been saying some real dipshit stuff since the early days of Millennial (then Gen Y) coverage but this really takes the frozen diarrhea cake.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than a few years ago, according to a new analysis. “It really does look like a free fall,” Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology, said. “But what’s causing it is unclear.”

remember: it saved no net money, social services US citizens are getting cut, and left the US in a weaker place geopolitically. none of the debates about fiscal responsibility, obligation to US citizens first, or 'hard choices' actually apply. they're all bullshit. killed people for nothing at all.

Eric Michael Garcia@ericmgarcia.bsky.social

Still kind of inconceivable how many people died or will die because of the death of USAID. And the world’s richest man did it almost as a joke

the current wave of oil prices and polling really reveal how few energy workers there are vs people who pay for them

Lisa Murkowski (R) even encouraged her to run for governor, according to two sources familiar with the conversations. Murkowski endorsed Dan Sullivan in the Senate race but she has not taken an active role in campaigning for him. #AKSen wapo.st/4yo82H9

This is antisemitism. This isn’t leftism. This isn’t anti-Zionism. This isn’t progressive activism. This is just blatant antisemitism.

Certain episodes of “woke gone wild” can be in part attributed to college students taking a 101 class on a socioeconomic topic and immediately believing they know everything there is to critique about capitalism, racism, homophobia etc.

I almost want just four years of pure revenge. Double stuff pack the court like eight new justices, withhold disaster funds from red states but give them to blue municipalities in those states, try to destroy car dealerships altogether, treat rich sex pests like Rs treat immigrants, etc.

This is true. In 2016, I got into an argument with a gay man on a menswear forum. I've since made it my mission to make every man dress gay, thereby destroying his ability to tell who is actually gay and, ultimately, his chances of finding love. I built my social media following to achieve that goal

Re: last ditch. Nothing raises my red flags more than hearing someone say they wish queer people were more “normal” as someone whose politics has become less radical over the years.

Yeahhh as a disabled lesbian it’s pretty obvious the article was written to give everyone an opportunity to laugh at the most isolated and vulnerable among us. The wider public has never *ever* given a shit about any other harassment campaign that’s shuttered a lesbian bar. Y’all can’t fool me!
