"We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men — not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate and to defend causes that were, for the moment, unpopular.” - Edward R Murrow

This case should be dead and over with before Christmas.

As FBI Director, he absolutely had the authority to direct those staffers to do that. He was an OCA, he could do that. This case is garbage on procedure and on substance.

Trump’s DOJ has charged James Comey AGAIN, this time under the Espionage Act over a 2016 New York Times story. In DOJ’s own words, Comey had staff talk to a reporter to “correct misinformation” in a Reuters article.

I'm going to say this for probably the 20th time now .... Comey was an Original Classification Authority at the time he allegedly disseminated the national defense information at issue here. Assuming it was FBI information, he had the authority to declassify it at his discretion.

They filed this on the literal LAST day before the statute of limitations expired. Literally, the very last day. Give me a break. This is garbage.

The DOJ has a new criminal case against former FBI director James Comey, this time related to the transfer of national defense information in 2016 storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

How in the hell is that still viable? The statute of limitations ran ages ago.

I genuinely question the mental well-being of these folks.

The man who has spent more money on politics in the last 2 years than George Soros has in his entire lifetime never says anything positive about his guy Ken Paxton. But he does serve up a steady diet of this stuff.

Hold the phone, folks in my replies just alerted me to something I had not even realized. Nicki Manaj appears to only be a green card holder. Not a U.S. citizen. It would incredibly problematic to put a foreign national in that position. Not impossible, per se, because of Article II... but yikes.

Put aside credentials or the insanity of the idea for the moment. She would have to get a security clearance. Relying only on public sources, I see three distinct issues. 1) She admitted in 2023 to past misuse of prescription medication. Not clear how long ago it occurred. That would need

NEW: Nicki Minaj for press sec has a chance of actually happening, but the timeline is unclear. However, the way my sources are talking about it gave me the impression that this is a genuine live ball. straightfromthehut.substack.com/p/nicki-mina...

clarification and, if rather recent, could be an issue. 2) She has multiple financial judgments against her. No indication she suffers from financial problems that prevent her from paying them but it ordinarily is something that would raise personal conduct concerns. 3) Her husband served time

twice, once for attempted rape in the 90s and later for manslaughter in 2006. He also failed to properly register as a sex offender in California. While that is *his* criminal history, not hers, it is something that Security would ordinarily take into consideration given their marriage. /end

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

Over 2,000 alumni from Vivek’s all-boys catholic high school in Cincinnati have signed and circulated a petition demanding that he pull the ad and issue a public apology for “ignoring the moral responsibilities” of his Jesuit education. I think he’s pretty cooked.

chat I don’t think doubling down on this ad is working out real well for vivek

House Judiciary Democrats have just released a 50-page report that pulls together years of assault allegations against Trump and his reported connections to Jeffrey Epstein. The report calls for a special counsel to investigate Trump's ties to Epstein.

BASH: What's the crime? AG TODD BLANCHE: What's the crime? Well it depends. There *could* be a crime. But the real wrong here is that Alaskans are gonna be confused. BASH: The Alaskan Supreme Court ruled 4 months ago on this matter

You can ask him that stupid question for the next two years and he is going to give you the same stupid answer. After 10 years, the press still doesn’t know how to ask him questions. Maybe take a lesson from what Jonathan Swan did in 2020.

All this time I never knew Clinton in 2000 could have directed DOJ to sue to make sure Florida election officials in Broward county were allowed to question voters on if they were confused by the ballot design when they voted for Buchanan.

See, all this time I never knew Obama in 2016 could have directed DOJ to sue to make sure state election officials could take action AFTER the election to determine if voters were misled by Russian interference operations.
