a lotta yall still dont get it lisp programmers can use multiple conses on a single list so if you have 1 code and 3 datas you can create 3 new programming languages

it's really buck wild how nicky from obsession keeps showing up in this type of setting. Her acting was scary but she was obviously not the villain. Did people not see the movie?

The popular monsters of the era reflect the cultural zeitgeist. In the 2000s, it was zombies. In the 2010s, it was vampires. And now, it's women!

If you make more than a million dollars a year, you shouldn't get to vote at all. You have your reward in life, problems don't affect you. You have no stake. Leave voting for the rest of us who live on planet earth.

The thing where he demands people thank him is such a small business tyrant move. Anyone who's worked retail knows that one complete dickhead in our lives who loves demanding people do things like perform like you're happy to serve them. Terrorizing people they see as lower than them this way.

1) vance has this weird preoccupation with demanding that people show him gratitude 2) this is just another expression of the idea that some americans don’t count and at most should be seen and not heard

I think... Astarion is a good character in the genre of character, but I only kept him in my party because I wanted a rogue. I mostly didn't like him. I think he's well performed though, the actor is great.

I listen to chapo trap house, unfortunately. That's on me, that's a me problem. But they have talked about the last ditch bar for the past three weeks in a row. It's like, move the fuck on dickheads. They've been dismissive of masking since 2021, and they never miss an opportunity to laugh about it.

"Here's an idea: don't go!" OK dipshit if you're in a town that has one venue that has a mask policy and you are still serious about masking, and that venue drops the policy, if you "don't go" where do you go instead?

The government is run by the worst 4chan addicts anyone can find. All they know how to do is shock and horrify people. Every day they wake up and ask themselves what sick shit they can do today. They should all be under court appointed supervision, they are deeply maladjusted people, every one.

The letter Q is one of those rare letters that feels spirituality like it belongs at the end near X, Y, and Z. Instead it's near the middle, ahead of some heavy hitters like R, S, and T. For a letter that's almost never found outside of a digraph except in loan words, that's pretty good. Kudos to Q.

Listen: I don’t want to minimize the danger of high e-bike speeds. But if the problem here is that stores sell e-bikes that can drive faster than legal limits, then where’s the story about how literally *every car dealership has been doing the same thing for decades*?!?

cbc.caHidden cameras show some stores unlocking speed limits on e-bikes, selling e-scooters that go up to 120 km/h | CBC NewsA new hidden camera investigation by Marketplace shows how some stores are selling e-scooters and e-bikes with top speeds much higher than provincial speed limits and with recommended rider ages young...

I had been able to stop the spam calls that have been bedeviling me for years by setting my phone to not even ring if a number is not in my contacts, and it worked for a few months, but sadly these AI spam calls are now leaving voicemail. It never ends.

Here is how politics, in most cases, works: Rich and powerful interests, whether in fossil fuels, finance, big tech, media, meat, pharma or foreign governments, make a demand, and use their sophisticated tools to persuade a government to adopt it. The government adopts it. Please read whole🧵

The point about cops being able to just not go is so real. If a car invades the bike lane and hits you, and you even do call the cops, and they do deign to show up, in my experience they tend to treat you as you're sort of a nuisance making a fuss vs a motorist, who's a serious person.

"If you're evil, you're at least competent." Setting aside that this doesn't follow at all (there's lots of evil and incompetent people), this is so revealing of the way the right thinks about stuff. They think the only reason not to do the most cruel thing is a lack of either guts or capacity.

peter thiel is another one of those guys who we are supposed to think is brilliant but every time he opens his mouth my first thought is “this guy sounds like an idiot”

Officially fall starts about now, but I just don't agree. I think the seasons should start half way between the solstices and equinoxes. Winter is when the days are shortest, summer is when they're the longest. Late September isn't quite summer but it's not fall yet.

I just wish our government stood for anything at all other than trying to find new ways to terrorize more people is all. I wish it could do something good instead of bombing other countries, building concentration camps, and helping billionaires render everyone unemployable.

For one thing the "gender affirming care" thing is not a gotcha when it's referring to like lip fillers for cis women. For another, your boss forcing you to alter your body chemistry is not affirming! This is an outrageous wide scale violation of bodily autonomy not "gender affirming" anything.

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.

people are always saying anti-AI arguments don’t understand the full nuances of the technology. which is correct. but only because it stole everyone’s work, exists solely to get you fired, has made the entire internet unusable and has been forced on everyone without consent

deeply bizarre to see the entire homepage of the Minnesota Star Tribune turned into a multi-pronged commercial for Kwik Trip, a gas station with gas station-quality food

I'll never vote for any democrat who's willing to throw trans people under the bus. First, I care about trans rights. Second, if they're willing to sacrifice trans people's rights in the hopes of winning, who *won't* they sell out? If you can't stand up for what's right you can't be trusted at all.

I need to stop saying words like "crazy" or "stupid" to describe illogical or nonsensical actions, but the thing is illogical or nonsensical don't quite capture what is meant by "that's a crazy idea" or "what a stupid thing to do." I need to find alternatives that work but it's not easy.

My superpower as an American with many European friends is being able to roughly estimate Celsius to Fahrenheit on the fly fairly accurately, due to my powerful brain (double it and add thirty and you're pretty close to right within a few degrees for most day to day temperatures)

Eyyy it's a rough neighborhood capiche? AI hackers could cause you real problems. Lucky for you, we might be able to help you out a little with protection. Whaddya say?
