today is the three-year anniversary of the covid infection that turned into long covid. it has completely rewritten the course of my life. it has brought me untold levels of physical suffering. it has devastated my mental health.

Likely preaching to the choir here but I want folks who are still active on X to realize that they are participating in a community that supports this kind of behavior.

Ryan Mac 🙃@rmac.bsky.social

X has made a comeback with some communities, namely AI and tech, but it is not Twitter of old. On X, users have been spreading the name of a woman they think is Cornell's Jane Doe. One particular post doxed a woman's address and phone numbers and was viewed 1.4 million times.

Sorry not to be reply to everyone who responded to my info request about #ME/CFS treatment y'day. Totally overwhelmed by utterly horrific stories. Now busy pulling it all together. And starting to see that there's a whole other story to be written (one day) about capital and chronic conditions. 1/2

I think more people should know this. COVID is bad enough by itself, it isn't necessary to mislead.

Prof. Michael Fuhrer@michaelsfuhrer.bsky.social

With all respect to Prof Hotez who I am sure did not realize: Texas, and much of the US are indeed having a Covid-19 wave, but the map and numbers in this post are misinformation fabricated by a non-expert.

I think it’s important to know that people like this are often referred to by the media as experts in illnesses like Long COVID and ME/CFS.

Adam@abrokenbattery.bsky.social

Today marks 25 years since 9/11. 8 months after the attack, psychiatrist Simon Wessely argued that illness reported around Ground Zero was being wrongly attributed to environmental toxins, suggesting “World Trade Centre Syndrome” was driven by social and psychological factors.

Time to go to the Farmer's Market and then open up the studio and fold some zines and hang out with a visiting pal and prep some files and man it's nice to have a quiet Sunday

so Alaska Airlines recently did two things: it added multi-factor authentication, and it added flights to Europe. Except that multi-factor authentication requires SMS and it's not uncommon to not have service when traveling abroad. So...no account access I guess?

What's so cool about this to me (disclaimer: I have a small, compensated role on this project) is that it shows how trials don't just need to test innovative treatments – they need to have innovative operations to fully represent the spectrum of people affected.

What’s your favourite writing (or video) specifically about accessibility? It could be technical or inspirational or high-level or down into the details. I’m curious if people have go-to examples of something that’s really well told in this space.

The study I can’t stop thinking about: Gut biopsies from people with Long COVID showed persistent SARS-CoV-2. The immune system could detect the virus and respond with inflammation, but it could not clear it. And that’s only one of this week’s important updates. 👇 #medsky

Again, "defund the police" is a perfectly reasonable, good governance proposal in response to absolutely bloated departmental budgets with poor performance track records. OPD had a clearance rate for violent crime of 10% in 2024.

99 cops and firefighters took home total annual pay packages for 2025 exceeding $500,000, due mostly to overtime. Altogether, 103 city employees had compensation above half a million. In total, it cost the city $59 million to employ this elite group of workers. oaklandside.org/2026/08/11/o...

Hey remember how you were told to just expect Covid infections as the new normal and most of the healthy people would probably recover? Welcome to the lettuce version of that.

I was hoping for your help with something. (Please RT for reach.) Is there a particular font that’s instantly recognizable to someone who lives where you do, and appreciated/recognized/hated there, but completely unknown elsewhere? Road signs, street names, transit, infrastructure, stuff like that?

Really excited about this biomarker discovery program (and proud to be a member of its scientific advisory board!)

Today was the last day the mostly abandoned PDX Lloyd Center Mall was open to public, so hundreds of people just showed up and hung out, no one cared if you drew on the walls since its getting demolished Had fun drawing critters. Tomorrow they’ll stare into an empty building before they’re gone

NEW: Last month, Biden’s former White House coronavirus response coordinator Ashish Jha offered his public support for the COVID lab leak origin story. He first endorsed the unproven narrative in February 2025, but his recent comments come amid escalating GOP attacks on Dr. Anthony Fauci.

I think people have been taught to interpret "preexisting condition" as "someone who decided not to take care of themselves" rather than three-quarters of the US population

if you are ignoring a minority saying they desperately need your solidarity because “the government says you don’t have to anymore,” it is unlikely that you’re on the right side of the issue.

disclosure: I have a paid role supporting this trial and I posted a video trying to get people to sign up. But I'm still impressed!
