there's an extremely promising in-progress aids vaccine and people with aids/hiv can live full, natural lives and all they have to do is take a single pill once a month. it's no longer a death sentence. it's fucking amazing.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

IGN China calling out western devs is perfect. There's a reason only western studios are struggling and keep getting hit with layoffs. But no one on this site seems to be able to figure it out. Its always the publisher's fault for not spending unlimited money for an "artist's vision" of perfection.

Ended up having a pretty severe depressive/self-hate episode and had to quit the exam mid way through. Thank God for crisis counselling and the fact I've gotten 80-85 on past assignments.

19 years ago, an ambitious dream to bring an iconic book series into the world of video games came to life with the release of The Witcher. It was the start of an unforgettable path, which wouldn't have been possible without our friends at BioWare.

NEW: I spoke with current and former EA employees to understand how the latest layoff round played out and the realities of daily life at the U.S. publisher. The short version? EA is controlled by an executive class that "cannot fail, only be failed." Workers, then, will always pay the price.

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

this is purely my own gut feeling and i’d love actual devs input, but i get the sense that on top of everything else collapsing, one of the big struggles in games is that the Normal Iterative Sequel, reasonably scoped and made on a quick schedule, seems to sell like six copies now

just a reminder that there are a lot of great videogames coming out - certainly more in the indie realm than when the indie boom started in the late 00's/early 2010's. and it is absolutely a failure of the larger game industry to not make that reality feel at all worthwhile or meaningful.

This is what Love Lies Bleeding got right about the 80s: everything in the 80s wasn’t neon and bright colors and crazy prints. Everything was fucking Brown

Darryl Mott@gamerstavernshow.com

That's the bit everyone gets wrong. They try to look like the 80s/90s and they pick whatever was in fashion or what was on TV show sets at that time. Most people lag about a decade behind whatever the furniture and decor trends are because they only buy stuff when they need to replace them.

Didn’t think this was a hot take but I don’t think BioWare made a game even remotely bad enough to “justify” it being shut down “BioWare was struggling for years,” yeah, and even its worst games weren’t as bad as some garbage that’s let slide and it’s fucking weird to imply the team “deserved” this.
