A couple years old now but why not seed my profile with things that spark joy. 2022 Canadian GP in Montreal. Hundreds of people were lined up in front of RB, Mercedes, Ferrari. My wife and I were the only people in front of the Williams garage. They invited us in!

RT: Taras Grescoe 🚇️ @straphanger@urbanists.social Make way for the new "Mayor Pete," Hizzoner Pete Fry. #Vancouver 's new mayor is the first in any major Canadian city to belong to the Green Party. He might also be the first mayor to come out of the punk rock scene... www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

So much of the lens on culture has been turned into a numbers game, where everything is about chart placements and streaming numbers and data. Its a horse race to who gets to do data best, and all of these dorks forget that people just want a song that will make them cry at the grocery store.

I guess this is probably my nine games. Cloudy Mountain was the first game I remember playing. The Quest games, Final Fantasy, and Baldur’s Gate turned my imagination to 11. Tribes was my biggest multiplayer obsession. SMW is peak game design. The Unreal games led me to being a Gamespy admin.

Can’t eat a sandwich until you subscribe to sandwiches. Can’t eat today’s sandwich until it has applied daily sandwich updates. Sandwich now has adverts even though you paid for ad-free sandwich. Can pay again to have less sandwich adverts. Now you can eat the sandwich, but it’s smaller.

saying you’re using AI to get out of just remembering this stuff is not a good way to sell it imo like i get that yall think of the working class as an anonymous pile of lumpy brawling illiterates but few of em are as eager to convert to brainlessness as you think they are

Went to an arcade in Halifax that had a framed portrait of Shigeru Miyamoto looking like he's about to be at the center of a murder mystery in the pacific northwest

The Wetland Project has been my favorite alternate-reality radio experience since it began. Since it only happens once a year, you can’t become accustomed to it. Close your eyes and be washed over by the sonic reality of an isolated bog on Saturna Island!

When I was a kid, the super bowl ads were all beer, cola, and Doritos. Then it was dot-coms. A couple years ago it was all crypto. This year is all AI slop, surveillance, and online betting. What a grim reflection of the world the tech oligarchs have wrought.

When the year is 1994, I don’t know how I can even choose. It’s a toss up between REM - Monster and Beastie Boys - Ill Communication. But also Bad Religion - Stranger Than Fiction. Today is Monday so I will pick Beastie Boys I guess

It's such a toss-up for me between this, The Black Parade, and The Crane Wife. But I think Amy takes it.

Ok, is it just me or has iOS 26 made vertical swipes much more sensitive to horizontal movements? Like I can’t swipe down to dismiss photos or scroll vertically anymore unless it is a perfect 90 degree swipe motion.

The Legend of Zelda was released in North America on this day in 1987. This is my oil painting based off of the box cover art of the Japanese version, Hyrule Fantasy. This was my first Zelda game and one of my favorite games growing up, leading to a lifetime love of the franchise and video games.

Since the term AI has been poisoned by generative world-burning stuff, we're going to have to go back to calling video game AI routines "the computer." I couldn't beat the final boss because the computer was being cheap, etc.

Went to a local independent theatre last night to see The Last Starfighter, a favourite of mine from my childhood. It was exactly what I needed - two hours of silly escapism.

Reading about some of the changes in the upcoming iOS 18.2 Mail app. Ugghh. Am I the last person on the planet who doesn’t want their mail sorted by an algorithm? Why can’t an inbox just be an inbox?
