How long before the horrible future where people donate tokens (compute) to Kickstarter-esq projects or GitHub Feature Requests, and when the goal is met AI uses the tokens to make the project. 🫠

Inspired by the FM3 Buddha Machine, and I've wrapped it all up in a Docker container and left it living a life of its own on the live stream. The SuperCollider project exposes a full set of controls that change generatively.

If anyone's interested I can release the SuperCollider project when I wrap up the live stream after October.

Heads up if you use the Google Analytics for WooCommerce plugin, an update late August changed how it reports revenue to GA4. Prior to the update revenue inc. shipping, and now it's excluded. So comparing MoM or YoY data won't be like-for-like.

My day: Running Ridge Racer audio through a Pi4 running MODEP virtual pedal board to make ambient soundscapes.

Oh and I'm using an old Android tablet to connect to Patchbox's WiFi network to control the pedal interfaces and cables via browser.

Technical breakdown. I found Sonos do a Line-in Adapter that's stereo and is class compliant, then a simple USBC to USBA converter gets me the audio into the Pi.

The Pi is running Patchbox + MODEP and I had to manually edit the Jack config to allow two different devices for input and output as I think it expects you to use a single external soundcard for both audio in and out. At that point I loaded it up with reverb, delay, and experimental pedals.

This just made me realise I have a whole range of weird devices and software I never released or demoed. I've just been having fun creating for myself lately without chasing hype.

I'd love it if there was a service where I could hire a Steam Frame to play Half-Life Alyx. Outside of that I have very little interest in VR.

Projects for this week: * Revive a 'dead' PocketCHIP. The NAND on them degrades over time meaning they need reflashing (and the tooling is harder to run on modern systems as the years go by). * Make a Pi Zero powered MIDI hub.

@chris-spann.co.uk Bluetooth MIDI works perfectly between my OP1 and FM1, and I found an Android app that acts as a MIDI host called MIDI Hub. I still need to play with using a Pi as host instead. I let my 8yr old loose on the FM1 and she managed to make sounds I didn't even know were possible!

I've been stuck in an eternal loop reading the same page of a @aptshadow.bsky.social novel on my Kindle and falling asleep with parent fatigue before I get to the bottom. To the point the author has released multiple books in that space of time!

My M-VAVE FM-1 arrived and just taking it out of the box I lost an hour to making music on the thing. The controls are very intuitive and it sounds great for the price. I'll make some videos next week!

I did a short workshop in learning to play the Kora and now it's another thing to add to my "definitely need to buy but can never justify the budget" list. 😅
