As the midterms approach, I would just remind everyone that US politics has become increasingly parliamentary and that what matters most is the *number* of Ds or Rs, not the idiosyncrasies or ideological quirks of individual candidates. If you want D outcomes, vote D up & down the ticket.

This is his Oppositional Defiance Disorder talking. Someone said that it's bad to say this so he reacts by saying "Oh yeah? Fuck you. I'll say it over and over againand there's nothing you can do about it." He knows his rally cultists are just there for the hate ritual and w/cheer anything he says.

Trump: "When you say the last 7 months you've produced more oil, more everything, you've made more money than you have ever made. You know why? What happened 7 months ago? The war. Now, when I say it, they said, 'Oooooh, that's so terrible.' We're making an absolute fortune."

This is mostly true. I was in shock and said if the FBI was going to come arrest me then fucking do it already. Ben was the one who held my hand and told that lawyer to fuck off. But YES. We LOVE the NLG. They found me my lawyers and I will owe all of them my life.

Ben Collins@bencollins.bsky.social

Last year today was one of the scariest days of my life. We initially called a lawyer who wanted to work with feds to arrange a perp walk. Kat told that guy to fuck himself. Thank God for the National Lawyer's Guild, who Kat called right after. They were ready to fight the bullshit on zero notice.

Today is the anniversary of being told by an FBI agent that I was about to be federally indicted. I tried to look for pictures from that day but all there is the tableau of full-body stress hives all over my back. 0/10, take better pictures future Kat

Fun fact: it takes fewer votes to impeach and remove the president than to override a veto.

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

Surprising exactly zero people, "forgive my youthful indescretions committed at age 53" guy recently sponsored a law to get 15-year-olds tried as adults. nashvillebanner.com/2024/07/15/n...

nashvillebanner.comNew Tennessee law allows 15-year-olds to be tried as adults - Nashville BannerTennessee's new law allows children aged 15 and older to be tried in adult court for nonviolent offenses. Critics argue it may not be effective and could lead to higher recidivism rates.

So hard to pick a favorite part of this article. Pretending that sending unsolicited dick pics at 53 was a “youthful indiscretion” is good, but don’t sleep on the argument that his wife forgave him for subjecting other women to unwanted nude photos so everyone else should too

I think what’s going on here is that Trump is sending lists of names that sound immigranty to state election officials and claiming - with no evidence - they’re non-citizens as a pretext to seize ballots.

Kyle Griffin@kylegriffin1.bsky.social

It's not just California: The Trump admin just asked Washington state to set aside ballots received from more than 400 people it claims are suspected to be registered to vote without U.S. citizenship.

The Paxtons’ blind trust invested $600K in a convicted fraudster’s new company. Experts say the trust wasn’t truly blind as the Paxtons reported losses from it on their taxes. Angela Paxton also sat on an affiliate’s advisory board for several years. with @texastribune.org

Trump renamed the DoD to Dept. of War. I've been thinking he should follow through and just rename DoJ to the Dept of Crime. But maybe that's too on-the-nose even for him.

A reminder, because it is almost that time of year: More children are killed by cars on Halloween than any other day of the year, by far. www.vox.com/future-perfe... If you're a parent, I hope you'll do what you can to keep kids safe. If you're driving on Saturday, PLEASE exercise extra caution.
