Voters feeling less disenfranchised and showing up more is another strong evidence why we need electoral reform towards proportional representation (which can also be ranked-choice at the same time too)
BC election data shows 52% of voters stayed home.
Global data shows all things being equal proportional elections have higher turnout than systems built solely on single-winner-ridings, because proportional representation means everyone feels they have a voice.
Congratulations to Toronto @mayoroliviachow.ca on her re-election tonight. Given Doug Ford’s constant interference & distractions, Toronto is arguably the hardest city in Canada to be the mayor of. I’m hopeful that in her first FULL term, Mayor Chow will lean in on more bold, creative city-building.
The Heritage Foundation adviser who recruited 12 bishops to pray over Trump in the Oval Office claimed a Ph.D. from an Italian university that doesn’t grant doctorates. His listed bachelor’s school is a high school.
A Vatican official called the meeting an insult to Pope Leo XIV.
Olivia Chow is a passionate defender of Toronto. She is someone who never stops working for the community and the people of the city. Let's bring this home friends.
We call upon parliamentarians, political parties, trade unions and social movements throughout our hemisphere and across the world to speak out in defence of Brazil’s sovereignty and the inalienable right of its people to determine their future freely. 🇧🇷
And finally, in 2021 just slightly MORE CALGARIANS VOTED in favour of not ash-traying our planet than those that voted to STAY IN CANADA in the 2026 #Referendum.
That's a POWERFUL MAJORITY of Calgarians in favour of #ClimateAction right here in Calgary.
So who's speaking to them right now?

Here in Canada... silence.
We need affordable plug-in solar legislation, across the country, now.

NEW: An order of New York nuns founded in 1817 has rebuked the bishops who laid hands on President Trump.
“Images carry messages,” the Sisters of Charity wrote. “Silence carries messages, too.”
The nuns have a powerful ally in Pope Leo XIV, who has put women at the center of his leadership.

Not to sound like a broken record but do you know what's VASTLY more popular than #Separatism in #Alberta? Like a legitimate, solid, reliable MAJORITY?
CLIMATE ACTION
How about a #Referendum on that?

Now that the referendum is over & the Remain side has won, there should be a thorough investigation into foreign interference in Canadian national unity & democracy.

What a marvelous age we inhabit! Centuries of scientific inquiry may now be dispensed with, provided a gentleman possesses sufficient confidence in his natural instincts. One wonders why Newton troubled himself with mathematics when he might simply have declared himself correct.
Thomas Lukaszuk declaring victory
"What this does, it not only sends a very clear message to Premier Danielle Smith that we do not need another referendum, but it also sends a message to the rest of Canada that we will not be a weak link in confederation"
The numbers coming in from Alberta are wild. Traditionally conservative blue Calgary voted in numbers as high as 89% to support Canada. The separatist gang were crushed.
Sucks to be you Danielle Smith and Pete Hoekstra.
Just read the 10 Alberta referendum questions and was blown away by how xenophobic and just plain nonsensical they are. What a ridiculous waste of taxpayers’ time and money! And all so Dani can try and keep her job.
“Dutch people cycle an average of 2.6km each per day. If this pattern was replicated worldwide, annual carbon emissions would drop by 686 million tonnes.
This mammoth figure exceeds the entire carbon footprint of most countries, including the UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia and Australia.” @euronews.com

Oil & gas companies are raking in profits right now and our leaders should be making them set money aside for cleanup. AND/OR, we could increase royalty rates to help fund our crumbling public services instead of scapegoating vulnerable immigrants. calgaryherald.com/opinion/colu...#ABLeg#CDNPoli
Thousands are struggling to make ends meet with inflation. Classrooms are overcrowded. Emergency rooms wait times are out of control.
And the #Alberta government's response? Introducing legislation that could waste TENS OF BILLIONS of taxpayer $ to fund industry cleanup 👀
Online gambling has been incredibly lucrative for the province. Ontarians wagered more than $82.7 billion in the 2024-25 fiscal year.
That windfall has come at a cost, critics say. Suicides by people with gambling issues have increased, according to data from Ontario’s chief coroner.
Star Investigation: The government agency responsible for online gambling in Ontario secretly shelved a research study intended to track rates of problem gambling.

There has never been an "open borders" policy in this country, and she knows it. She was demanding more immigrants until it became convenient to scapegoat those immigrants for the very failures of her government in housing and healthcare. She's just bald-faced lying for her own political benefit.
