Parse out the voters that didn't actually want to separate but wanted to "send a message to Ottawa™️" & the official #Separatism vote number might at best hit 10%.
For the record a larger percentage of Americans believe in FAIRIES than Albertans that legitimately want to separate from Canada #abpoli
“Having high-speed rail is now seen as a requirement of 21st-century nationhood.
With cars being problematic in so many ways, high-speed trains seem to have been blessed with good great fortune: they are beautiful, fast, elegant, modern and environmentally friendlier."

Oil and gas assets are not state owned in Canada. There is no benefit to me from the sale.
Carney frames the conversation as Canadian oil when it is privately owned.
It must be nice to be comfortable believing "Hey, the world is bad and we gotta put Canada's economy* first" or "Well, if we don't sell fossil fuels to everyone, someone else will".
A liveable planet and human rights seen as luxuries we can't afford. Morally very convenient.

Along with us for the kickoff was our awesome new friend, Tish Forteath of #SoilJoy to tell use a little about the value of living #Soil, #Compost and all the LIFE you can find in the earth itself if you know how to look!

During which time, PM #MarkCarney, no shit, flies to Alberta where he "COMPLAINS ABOUT" (and I quote) "BIBLICAL WEATHER" back in Ottawa then ANNOUNCES ANOTHER BIG, DUMB, BAD DEAL, WORLD BURNING PIPELINE.
Knows better. Absolutely does not give a shit. Bankers gotta bank. #cdnpoli#ClimateChange
Severe flooding over Canada Day is still top of mind in Ottawa, heading into the municipal election. Mayoral candidates are offering up their plans for prevention and response as extreme weather becomes more common in the changing climate.
My advice to politicians across Canada & around the world is when you take wildly popular, important policy off the table entirely & replace it with junk we all know has no future, don't be surprised when you find yourself fighting for the scraps with bad actors & losing bsky.app/profile/bigc...
HUGE news out of Mississauga Ontario, one of the most important urbanizing cities in Canada — Councillor @alvintedjo.bsky.social, who I was very impressed with while advising the city before the last municipal election changed everything fast, has defeated BOTH former mayors, and is the NEW MAYOR!
A pipeline to nowhere for a resource that is in end of life.
But at least it going to cost $40 billion of our money.
(Not including several hundred billion in clean up that well all be paying for and not the US companies pulling this shit)

Yeah, what a despicable way to be let go—hey? In the heat of “lower for longer” Cenovus laid people off on their internal org chart BEFORE doing it IRL. People were typing their names into the org chart to the point that the company had to lay people off on the fly.
"Among his accomplishments, Getson highlights a number of foreign trips representing the province, including attending a United States presidential inauguration."
Going to Trump's inauguration on our dime is an accomplishment?

Give electors a bad choice & don't be surprised when they make bad choices about voting at all
In the next provincial election Albertans will again choose between pipelines from the Left vs Pipelines from the Right.
Just like last time.

💯 The article states if more than 50 people per site are laid off the province requires 4 weeks notice. Been planned for months I’m sure, just hoping us suckers vote away our rights and freedoms for the Broligarchy before they break up with us even more.
“An internal notice … instructs Calgary employees to work from home Tuesday, when they will be notified virtually if their positions are affected.
The notice also says employees at the company’s Surmont and Montney operations have been told notifications will be delivered by phone.” —CTV News

Anyone who left Alberta for BC’s politics just learned that one cannot move away from our collective problems. 😩
Us Albertans better figure out how to create proportional representation in real life, without the legislation ASAFP. The powerful don’t GAF everywhere.🙏🏻

we are in trouble.
there's no denying it.
and we're in a crazy alternative world where we're pretending everything is A-OK.
It's not.
Let's do more. Let's pressure our poliiticians to fight harder, for us.
Solar has overtaken nuclear. A decade ago it supplied 1% of the world's power. In 2025 it met three quarters of global demand growth.
Almost nobody saw it coming. I spoke to Jocelyn Timperley at BBC Future about why.

Our First Nations traditional territory maps are progressing. We're likely a week away from completing our alpha build. This will replace the Native-Land.ca territory maps, which went offline earlier this year (though they have other maps still online). It'll go online at knowledgekeepr.com
"Trump threatening us, an #ElbowsUp movement I support entirely but I sure as hell don't support more pipelines & now a wholly unnecessary #Separatism#Referendum. How do we deal with all of these great big overbearing pressures yet continue to fight for the things that need to happen?" #cdnpoli
Cleaning up photos today and found these gems related to new pipeline talks.
Not in the nation’s best interest, @mark-carney.bsky.social. Getting the USA out of Canada is though.✅

Schools, arenas and daycare centres are where community happens.
But for many Indigenous communities these buildings are also aging and in need of repair.
@yourcier.bsky.social is working with communities to address this problem, and their lessons are well-worth sharing.

We met up on our bikes on a gorgeous Saturday morning at #JaipurBridge near #EauClairePlaza, our devices loaded up with the #iNaturalist app & ready to learn from each other & the world around us about Calgary's #DowntownBiodiversity (& there's more than you'd think!) #yyc#yycbike#yycbiodiversity
I was listening to the news this morning and heard Smith suggest that there would be another referendum in 2027 about stuff like bike lanes, etc
Did anyone else hear this?
F*ck me, as long as the UCP are in power we are going to waste all Alberta's money on culture war crap

When governments that dishonestly brand themselves progressive betray that premise by magnifying inequality & corporate power, they make the escalation of fascist movements inevitable.
This is just as true of Carney as it is of Eby.
