I spent an ungodly amount of time creating the diagrams for these slides. I even did extra work because I realised that scaling up the icons lost their rounded corners, and I wanted them back.

Bit of a late shoutout, but I'll be presenting at the Unity user group in Malmö later today: www.meetup.com/unity-game-d... If anyone is around, say hello! 👋🏻

By the way, I didn't make the icons themselves, obviously! They are the work of our super-talented designers, and are the same ones you see in the editor today. And they are insanely good. A huge part of Unity's usability, if you ask me!

getting some cool effects on hard surface objects with the latest shader overhaul. Not there yet but a lot closer to what I want

A couple of months ago I moved to a new role at Unity, in some aspects similar to what I was doing in 2020/21. One of the first things I've worked on is a set of 3 videos, and they just came out this week.

Sadly in the current AI climate some people think that going so in depth on a tool is not worth it, for this is not how people make, or will make, games. I'm not sure whether it is true, but in the meantime, I remain committed to unpack and explain complex topics in a decent way 🤓

Hey All! I'm looking for a new role as an Art Director or Senior Env roles. 12+ Years Experience, AAA & Indie. This is my personal work & would love to work on stylized or Narrative focused work (Link Below) 🧵1/3

Like many I see commenting around here, also for me Machinarium was one of those pivotal moment games. It represents in my mind the first "indie wave" (when indie games went big), the first Humble bundle (when it seemed like a good idea), Flash was at its peak, etc. They were some good years!

Pompeii is a UNESCO world heritage site not because it was remarkable in its prime, but because it survived to our era untouched: one moment, preserved for all time. But future generations won't know what OUR world was like unless we do the same. This is why we MUST bury Toronto with a volcano

Just found a tool for project management for games, and everything – EVERY-THING – from their logo to the website text to the UI of the tool itself screams AI-generated. And it made me sad.

I'm asking for a screenshot because I'm curious to see how other devs organise their projects. So if you add some details I would love to hear! If you don't want to share publicly, send it to buoybase@gmail.com (my Asset Store email).

The best thing is: at the same time they claim Codecks has no integration but then they specifically reference my Scene Notes. But conveniently gloss over the Codecks version, instead pointing to the offline one to highlight that "Asset Store scene notes" only "stores comments inside the Editor" 😤

Because I love the people at Codecks and I think it's a great tool (I use it daily), I propose a deal: If you use Codecks+Unity, send me a screenshot of your Codecks decks, and I'll give you a code for Codecks Scene Notes! 🎟️

I feel like right now it's important to verify that things work with 6.6 and 6.5 (new Hierarchy window). But also keep an eye on 6.4 (changed InstanceID API). Then you want to support 6.3 because it's the last LTS, perhaps 6.0 which is also an LTS... and why not, 2022.3? Some people are still on it.

“Human-written narrative content” - whoever wrote this would fail the Voigt-Kampff test, as would certain videogame execs for that matter.

Saber finally added the AI disclosure to Steam for Rideshare “Stimulator” and it’s even worse than I said it was. I can see why the CEO crashed out when I pointed it out.

If we could ask a quick favour of any Yarn Spinner user, it would be for those who have purchased YS+ to leave a review. Less than 1% of purchases have left a review. Y'all game devs know how much reviews make a difference, and tools are no different. Help us stand out among AI-coded slop 🙏
