The US built the greatest talent magnet ever, attracting the smart, skilled, and striving. They’d come to study, then stay and build things here, or leave with positive impressions and fruitful connections. Helped make the US wealthy and powerful. Then America chose to throw it away. And for what?

California is debating legislation right now that would ban all ICE employees from ever being hired by a public agency for life. This is good and next year's Democratic House needs to provide a full roster of ICE employees to help facilitate state efforts like this one.

ICE plays no vital role in public safety. DOJ handled INS which oversaw the border patrol. Treasury oversaw Customs. The Coast Guard thrives no matter who oversees them. The consolidation & creation of enforcement agencies have been abused since DHS inception. All cost. No benefit.

A reminder that the MAGA regime ordered the newly destroyed CDC to cut the tracking of the parasite causing explosive diarrhea all around the country not long before the outbreak. These fascists want us all poor, sick and dead.

Celebrated 🎉 and was pleased that I outlived one of my truly awful abusive cheating former “work” colleagues when he drowned. Schiff is such a disappointment. As a CA Senator, he doesn’t have any reason to spout this obvi platitudinous BS. Disrespecting his constituents.

Sen. Adam Schiff@schiff.senate.gov

What I’ll remember most about Senator Graham was his sense of humor and how he deployed it to move his policy positions forward. Though we did not often agree, Senator Graham was never disagreeable.

I have a decades long track record of celebrating 🎉 the death of work & volunteer project “colleagues” who did me and/or others grave harm out of intentional acts. Sticking with that. I recommend it ✅

I had the privilege of working with Senator Dracula on my bill offering tax cuts to family-owned mortuaries. While we disagreed on much and his horrible embrace has left me unable to endure sunlight, I'll always remember his amusing little jokes about exsanguinating my staff.

a different lens is that everyone is labor or capital. doctors, lawyers, tech, these are all labor and have more in common with housekeepers and factory workers than they do with capital. the other distinctions are a distraction. we should all be united against capital.

It's been fun watching I Love New York guys Adams and Cuomo scamper the fuck away to be full-time pieces of shit, proving everything everyone ever said about them 100% completely correct and making everyone who ever supported them look like the unprincipled jackasses they are

The former governor’s new job is to help OKX and the owner of the New York Stock Exchange tokenize traditional financial instruments—which may raise serious ethics concerns if it seeks approval from New York state regulators.

"The Democratic base is angry. Democratic politicians can channel that anger against Trump—or it will be channeled against them."

Matthew Sheffield@matthew.flux.community

This by @perrybaconjr.bsky.social is exactly correct. The most important dividing line right now for Democrats is between those who will fight and those who will send strongly worded letters. The internal policy debates must take lower precedence than stopping gangster government:

Across the country, rural, suburban and urban, regular non billionaire people — and that’s most of us — feel that we are spending much more for food, healthcare, gas & electricity and that our wages or social security don’t go far. And we fear that we or our family members might lose their jobs…

In a society with an ever weakening social safety net… so while we Dems might not yet have agreement on how well solve this — we ALL want to stop the corruption & corporate & billionaire giveaways so we can rebuild our devastated society.

Listening to @wnyc.org politics show - shocked to hear Politico’s Lisa Kashinsky say she didn’t think Hakeem Jeffries was under threat for role of Maj/Min Leader in a new Congress — um everyone I know, activists & “normie” folks, lefties & moderates, across the country DiSLIKE 👎 him intensely

Would be nice if even just a few political reporters spent some time w real people— not their peers, electeds, consultants, leaders of unions that no longer turn out grassroots workers & that are just part of the machine… when you use a quote of Carville 🤦‍♀️

I get NY Gov alerts. So many of the increasing number of auto accidents in my area include injury & often fatalities. Larger, heavier (EVs one reason for that) are likely a 🔑 cause.

Really interesting research, great thread. Consumers don't know how much more dangerous SUVs are to people outside cars; but even when informed, they don't care. It's going to take regulation, not education, to solve this.
