@br_tal_ty from the Bird Site. Animals, books, quirky stuff, video games, putting the "social" in social media. I was once shocked by an electric fence. Greater (much greater, like might as well be Iowa) Chicagoland area.

When playing certain games, you gotta ask yourself Am I enjoying this or am I making ice cubes? You deserve better than ice cubes.

Seeing people say AI is a tool that helps "working class people become writers" and its such bullshit. The process of learning and skill sharpening is labour, and its telling that there is work to be glamorized (being perceived as a Writer) and labour beneath people (learning to write)

I regret to inform everyone that I gambled incorrectly when I built my new computer in August and didn't upgrade to 64GB to save $90 and said "I'll just buy another two sticks at Christmas" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Those who have less than full throated support and love for trans people disgust me. Who doesn't see the version of themselves they long to be in their mind? They hate those with the courage to do something about it, who show the rules for the meaningless white-after-labor-day calvinball bs they are

Looks like LLMs are *very* vulnerable to attack via poetic allusion: "curated poetic prompts yielded high attack-success rates (ASR), with some providers exceeding 90% ..." https://arxiv.org/html/2511.15304v1

Please, PLEASE, I am begging you as both a parent and someone who is sick of all this THIS, go vote for your school boards. Even if you don't have kids, that's how these reactionary dipshits got their feet in, that's where the book bans and library cuts start.

Teen Vogue staffers put out some extremely good, incisive investigative reporting over the last n years. Give if you can.

thank you for the outpouring of support! those of us laid off from Teen Vogue yesterday are now sharing our GoFundMe to help us cover our emergency expenses now that we've lost our incomes, as we get back on our feet.

All but one person or group we got (and we only got like eight or nine!) had one person take one of the bags of clementines I made up either by itself or first before I urged them to also take something else.

I can’t stress this enough: you cannot understand politics without reading this paragraph about why there’s no such thing as a 1/3rd pound hamburger

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

I always get drawn back to Al Gore telling voters that he’d only raise taxes on the top 1% and then after the election a poll showed that something like 20% of voters thought they were in the top 1% and another 20% thought they would be in the next five years. Just a total tragic disconnect.

Last chance to turn it off. On Monday, November 3rd, Microsoft will start using your LinkedIn data for AI training. And remember, you're opted in by default. To toggle it off 👉 Account - Settings & Privacy > Data privacy > Data for Generative AI Improvement.

For New Yorkers who work the night shift, it can be nearly impossible to participate in political life of our city. So tonight we’re bringing this campaign to them — starting with taxi drivers waiting at LaGuardia.

Fascism is here and many of the country's biggest politicians, corporations, news orgs, and institutions have embraced it. But it's still weak and people hate it. Our greatest strength is each other. Find your people in your local communities, stick up for everyone, and learn to say no.

(2/2) This third one ("What to Do") is heavily lifted from a post by @gregpak.net which I will go find and link below. I had a much more angry / maudlin idea before I saw his post and realized it's better to give people something to DO rather than a thing to be mad at.

I put on a pair of beloved burgundy velvet pants today that I'd been waiting for them to not be too small to wear and it to be cool and now they're too big 😭 The most mixed of bags.

More people should be publicly lambasting not just the corps and pols who suck, but the people they know who join up with truly heinous power-tripping groups. Out your grandson on Facebook. Make fun of that guy from HS who never apparently grew out of his bullying and playing cops.

Probably most people aren't doing this because they still think it's fine or It's Just A Job or The Media Lies but at least tell on the stupid ones who're bragging about it.

girls with adhd playing long rpgs like "i am overwhelmed by the state of the save file i left off with last time my attention arbitrarily fell onto this game. time to start from scratch."

A high five or fist bump to everyone who got out there today and to everyone who can't but would if they could and are supporting or protesting in ways that work for them.
