"you know how true and false are reserved words… can you imagine the havoc you could wreak on a project if you were able to redefine the words themselves to alter the fundamental nature of true and false? it would be absurd for javascript to allow this, and indeed it does not…" go allows it 🫠

Don’t you *LIKE* understanding the magic of the machine? You do realize hand-programming (I hate that I even have to specify hand now) is fun…right?

I’m convinced that a large % of programmers don’t actually like computers. As a side effect, are also perfectly happy to throw away their reasoning to a model as soon as they can. I don’t get it, at ALL.

There are only two file formats: disguised zips and renamed text files. JSON? Text. EPUB? Zip. CSV? Text. EXE? Zip. SVG? Text. DOCX? Zip. ICS? Text. APK? Zip.

I know I'm a dusty old crone, but I'm old enough to remember when real programmers could get a fully functional browser in 10k lines and an entire embedded system in 5k. We're bigging up vibe coding by measuring it against 21st century webdev hackers who absolutely cannot code for shit.

My app has 111,000 lines of code across 455 files. I wrote a total of zero lines. Has taken minimal effort over two months (perhaps 2-3 hours per week in the evenings, chipping away). Total cost ~$200 and $5/mo to run. Compare w/ 5 years ago (years + $500K to $1M+). Crazy times ahead.

you can't really compare this to what a senior engineer would build. How do you know this is the best solution. Do you know whether a real engineer would need 100k LoC to remake this? Stop larping as a software engineer, then telling me my job is at threat.

how does at protocol even work for someone like @tangled.org. so you selfhost a "knot" and that you can push code there. then you can view other people's code on that same instance via at protocol?

had to get up at 5am to wait in an online queue for an hour to book my driving test. now I get to wait 6 months. ??????? feels like it shouldn't be this hard but aight

why doesn't mqtt support lz2 compression for data transmission? sure it's a transport protocol, I define the payload... etc etc. LET ME COMPRESS THE HEADERS TOO.

absolutely love that you can send literally anything over ssh. got my laptop acting as a bridge for an mqtt bridge and it just Works

wait nebula is only 2.50 a month???? I thought it would be like every subscription service 10 something a month
