i don't know if this is just something i'm reading into it but i'm watching the 2023 Dungeons and Dragons movie and i would swear that the production designer was like "make the outside look like a flocked battle mat and make the inside look like a drybrushed 3D print"

the dialogue and the plot feels very "conversation between DM and players at the table" (positive) so it makes sense if the way it look like the scenes are constructed out of terrain from a plastic tub was an intentional choice too
