I wonder if the #weboftrust can provide sufficent trust without a centralized identity verification? Very much think the path #wsocial is taking here is the wrong one.

Yet I belive there is no decentralized mechanism today that meets the requirements of #QDS, essentially a signature that counts as very solid evidence in courts. You can get close with #ADS (avanced digital signature), by signing with a trusted Authority such as pgp.governikus.de.

Trust usually requires more then proof by a single authority. Mastodon also has a sensible mechanism. Instead Proof provided by a single Authority, it relies on verification via multiple sources, such as DNS, and other Platforms.
