Saw a woman at the park give a rolled-up ten to a toddler to carry to another woman, then she said with increasing urgency, "Give it to your mama! Give it to your mama!" as the baby calmly ate the money.

I stumbled upon Josh Puckett's lovely Interface Craft website. I wanted to see how well the cards interaction (built with Framer Motion) would translate to native View Transitions. These don't have the little animated graphics, but that should be feasible with this approach.

Element-Scoped View Transitions are gonna be **SO GOOD** There’s still some details to settle, but the main thing is there: run VTs on a subtree of the DOM, allowing parallel VTs. And with `view-transition-scope` you can limit the scope of `view-transition-name` values, allowing VTs to be nested.

"move over, pickleball. celebrities are backing a new racket sport: typti," i say to myself in the dark. the year is 2938. every human being is dead. i will not die and am alone.

At the start of this year, I set out to actually learn how to write shaders. I had tried this before. I had tried to read The Book of Shaders—multiple times. Each time, I got discouraged and dropped off. This time, I tried to learn by building. I ended up with a little library and want to share it.

I've been leaning hard into the View Transitions API at work. This isn't, like, perfect, but I'm pretty impressed by what you can pull off with it.

The visuals at Floating Points show in Brooklyn last night were painted live and projected onto the wall behind him. This is a terrible picture but it was cool as hell.

I've always been annoyed that, with the Web Animations API, there's no built-in way to know when an infinitely looping animation is finishing/starting an iteration. Turns out it's pretty easy to fake it using the `finished` promise that you get when you play an animation. codepen.io/andystewartd...

This is first time that I’ve written a shader and know, at a line-by-line basis, what the hell is happening. It's not even particularly complex, as shaders go, but it feels like progress.

I started this on a plane 6 months ago, forgot about it, and finished it on a plane last week. There's a lot more that I could do with it, and I may bang around on it occasionally going forward. I've found it useful on some recent projects, though, and wanted to publish it. www.colorpalett.es

Every time some big news event happens, someone chimes in about how they’ve noticed that said event is being used by others to confirm their priors. At some point, does that become its own form of confirmation bias? It’s a bias ouroboros.

Bought a little macro pad to use as a controller for my coding experiments. It actually is meaningfully more fun than just using my keyboard 😅

When I was visiting my hometown over the holidays, I got to tour the reopened Capricorn Recording Studios. I was browsing through their old print pieces when I saw the logo for Paragon Agency (who promoted the Allman Brothers). I realized the type treatment would work pretty well with my name 😅

Seeing over and over #DesignSystems teams finally starting to feel good with adoption in design, but dev seriously falling behind. There's all sorts of options to help remedy it, however I can't help but think that hiring a shit hot hybrid designer/developer or "Design Engineer" is the real solution
