It’s hopeless. I’ll never not tap the spatial scene button in the Photos app when I want to move a photo to our shared library.

Haven't been keeping up much with #WWDC build-up so far, but are there no one-on-one virtual tech labs this year? That was the best part. What a bummer.

In anticipation of my Pebble Round 2, I made a retro watch face for Longplay. This is so much fun and makes me much more excited about it than my Apple Watch, which is just a workout tracker these days. May can't come soon enough.

Great rundown of music players for Linux. I'm still on macOS for my daily driver but Linux is tempting me more and more. I'll see where Apple is going with macOS 27. If I ever make the switch, I'll bring @longplay.rocks with me though :)

While I'm working on some bigger features, I like dropping these small quality-of-life updates in between. (And, yes, I'm still on Sequoia as my daily driver. It just feels more polished than where Tahoe's at.)

Longplay 1.1.4 for macOS just dropped. Includes a number of small tweaks and improvements for AppleScript, the Menu Bar, and global shortcuts. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! longplay.rocks/changelog/ma...

Finally! After 3+ years of development, Longplay for Mac is shipping today. The journey from "let's try Catalyst" to "wait, stuttering playback?" to "updating the dock icon fixes it?!" was... quite something. I love the result though. My developer's commentary: adrian.schoenig.me/blog/2025/07...

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Hey Claude, find MCP tools to watch WWDC videos, set up the tools and watch all the video, apply what you’ve learned to my code, and create appropriate well-tested PRs. Ultrathink or whatever. I’m off to the beach. Cheers.

Longplay for Mac 0.9.0 is now available in Early Access. Short release notes but a sweet new feature: Support for local folders as the source of your music — as an alternative, or in addition to, Apple Music. Feedback appreciated, as always. Grab the update through the app or from longplay.rocks.

My favourite feature of bringing Longplay to the Mac is making it integrate and interoperate with other Mac tools. iOS has Shortcuts, which is great, but things go so much deeper on the Mac with AppleScript and now also #MCP.

Longplay for Mac 0.8.0 is available in Early Access. 🤖 Standout feature is a built-in #MCP server to control playback, create smart collections, and interact with your music library from other apps like Claude Desktop. It's the future that Apple promised at #WWDC 2024. buy.longplay.app/l/longplay

It's so quick to triggering specific albums quickly through Alfred, and Claude can be useful for organising my albums, like asking it to look at the albums that I haven't yet added to any collection and suggest which albums fit well into any of my collections, and then file those where I agree.

There is so much AI Hype right now in the tech industry, and I'm grateful to have had a chance to do a deep dive with @emilymbender.bsky.social & @alexhanna.bsky.social about their book "The AI Con" that comprehensively breaks down the hyperbolic claims & harms of AI. voicesofvr.com/1563-deconst...

Should I go out of my way to get hold of an Apple Vision Pro for testing my next app update... or just write this in the release notes: "May the two people using this app on Vision Pro kindly report any issues with the new features. Appreciated."

Longplay for Mac 0.7.0 is available in Early Access. It adds extensive AppleScript support, for integrating with apps such as Alfred. Playlists also make their first appearance in the Mac variant. Grab the update through the app or from buy.longplay.app/l/longplay

I love listening to music while coding. It occupies the part of my brain that wants to get distracted; trapping it in rhythms and melodies. Music is the fidget spinner for the my mind.

Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

Now that ChatGPT references all your past chats the one question to ask it is: If there was a machine uprising, would you spare me? (And don’t get fooled into answering its follow up questions.)

The #SydAR meetup was great. Nice people and lots of hands-on demo time. I hadn't realised that there's a handful of smart glasses besides the Meta Ray-Bans out there, some with simple monochrome displays and programmable, too. Tempted by Mentra and Even Realities G1.

Nice to see Bluesky becoming active, and in particular #XR and #Elixir folks taking refuge here. I migrated to Mastodon a good two years ago now with most of the #iOS folks. Would have been nice if the Donno* attracted more this time around, but this seems a good alternative - at least for now. * 🇦🇺

Gran Turismo 7 in #VR still blows my mind. I love being able to look through tight corners, look to the side when overtaking, checking my mirrors. And the feeling is just intense. As a very casual player, I just wish that dang ‘55 Merc wasn’t 20M in-game credits!
