"the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress" Not impeaching him for this, encourages him to keep doing it. Congress must not allow him to be above the law.

Andy Craig@andycraig.bsky.social

That it'll fail because they lack sufficient consolidation and centralized control does not make it trivial that the president of the United States is trying to steal elections and produce an illegitimate sham Congress. It is open rebellion against the Constitution and morally tantamount to treason.

I agree! Keep the idea of impeachment, the many many reasons for impeachment, and republicans’ obstruction of impeachment in the news every day. Make each article short and easy to understand. Add new articles to the pile every week. Have pundits analyze the statistics of the pile. Be relentless.

People in elite positions have leaned on Learned Hand’s “when liberty dies in the hearts of the people no constitution, no court, no law can help” quote these last years, but ordinary people are upholding liberty better than most of our institutions.

There was a time when no bills from federal grand juries were unheard of, now there’s a certain type of prosecution where it’s more likely than not. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/27/u...

Can I also just say: it’s a huge failure on media that these pols can continue as if the only q is “can impeachment succeed,” never asked to confront arguments for strategic *failed* impeachments. What if ppl agree about the Senate and disagree about what that means for impeachment strategy?

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

@raskin.house.gov frankly sir this is condescending & offensive. The ppl calling for impeachment do NOT deny this political reality. I know bc I am one of them. I am your constituent & have been calling for months try to discuss the strategic importance of repeated *unsuccessful* impeachment votes.

Fun fact: it takes fewer votes to impeach and remove the president than to override a veto.

Dems continue to believe—as far as I can tell w/o evidence—that the only political acts worth taking are ones they can determine in advance will succeed. Impeachment is the most publicly legible way to show you believe what you say on the campaign trail: Trump et al are a threat to the Republic.

This is the right approach, imo. This is what John Quincy Adams did to force Congress to confront slavery when it wanted to bury the issue. Relentless repeated failed motions. He brought them multiple times a *day*. bsky.app/profile/anja...

The persecution of @repilhan.bsky.social just days before an election is vile and politically-motivated. I'm leading 175 House Democrats in denouncing this. When we retake power, we have to seriously look at how we can stop these abuses of power — starting with the power of the purse.

Muddling through is not good enough. It's kicking the can down the road for the next would-be autocrat to try again and try harder. It can be repudiated as a fundamental discontinuity in legitimacy and its perpetrators punished accordingly or else the democratic death spiral doesn't stop with him.

ICE is not a law enforcement agency, in microcosm: they use force to impose orders not rooted in law, & their actions are against many laws (as courts have noted over & over). The US is not its leaders. The US is its laws ICE is an army, at war with the law. They are at war with the United States.

Radley Balko@radleybalko.bsky.social

ICE causes man to wreck while his children are in the car, then tries to pry his kids from his arms. They got the wrong guy. Toward the end of the video, an ICE officer says law requires the person recording to back up 25 feet and threatens with pepper spray. (There is no 25-foot law.)

This administration’s lack of care for the rights of citizens is no accident. Trump’s official position is that citizenship is not a right, but a state of grace.

It also seems kind of bad that the Justices's book deals are interfering with their ability to hear cases. This isn't just one Justice being recused out; this is the entire Court lacking the quorum to hear the case at all.

I wanted to see this kind of action beginning when attorneys were manipulating the court to rush people into overseas torture camps, but even if it has to begin in service of protecting a community golf course I’m glad to see it happening.

If an atty requests a pause, etc. they should be on notice that if the govt exploits the delay to change facts on the ground THEY will be held liable for their role in obstructing the court. If they plead for time it must be at their risk now.
