"Recent events have brought Trump’s governing style into sharper focus," Jonathan Rauch argues. "'Fascist' best describes it, and reluctance to use the term has now become perverse." theatln.tc/wVq7MFaa

Holocaust survivors, their families, loved ones, friends, & caregivers as died have been calling the Fascism alarm since the Tea Party started to take over the GOP in 2009 as a response to Obama being president. Not agreeing w/ the alarms then caused this failure in our gov't and media now.

Americans were told repeatedly by Trump's own former generals John Kelly, Jim Mattis and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs general Mark Milley that Trump is a "fascist to the core". And it seems that only now some ppl are saying 'wow, maybe Trump is a fascist?"

And yet they author couldn't resist the urge to bash "left-leaning types" in the very 1st paragraph and basically blame them for his own inability to see who these people are and what they have been planning for years Welcome to the right side of history, stop attacking those who've long been here

Goofiest site out there. You missed the boat, folks. Cancelled my sub over a year ago now, doing fine without you. "Uhhh upon further inspection, it IS that bad! No, we will not be taking back our previous bad takes"

Jonathan Rauch still finds a way to blame progressives for the fact that they were right for decades, and that's what really matters. Notice that he tries to claim that opposing abortion isn't fascist. It absolutely is. Anti-abortion terrorism and their ideology has always been fascist.

The Atlantic has been helping fascists win in the West for many years now. You are culpable. Nobody is fooled by you right wingers now having horror about the violence you've wrought. You published Jesse Fucking Singal to smear LGBTQ people for years.

It’s sad that @theatlantic.com has supported Jonathan Rauch for what has taken him this long to figure out that Stupid Hitler is, underneath it all, still Hitler. At least he’s arrived, but by the time you’ve recognized it’s fascism, it’s too late.

Would love to see Rauch admit that millions of Americans got this right years before him and encourage his reading audience to trust those people more than him about what's going on in America.

That's what we have been trying to tell you for years. How the hell did it take you this long to see what was obvious for years? Maybe we could have stopped this escalation if you were competent journalists.

Slapping themselves on the back for finally noticing that the Republicans have become fascists—the most important political issue of the past 50 years.

The Atlantic always gives the impression it can't make up its mind between warning people about Hitler and providing an instruction manual for Hitler. It's also quite a lot of words to avoid mentioning genocidal transphobia - an impulse shared by the Trump regime and Atlantic.

What defect in your personality would have you admit this? He was a fascist in twenty-fifteen. Good of you to recognize it now.

Oh, so now that a cis white man has been murdered, ya'll finally coming around to this conclusion? Gtfo.... you enabled this monster and refused to blame him for the problems he previously caused, and now that you're feeling unsafe, its a problem.....

This is one of the worst pieces I've read in a long time. He starts by saying "I was wrong but not *really* because there's no agreed upon definition" then spends the rest of the article talking about how this fits the definition that allegedly doesn't exist.

The fact that you *refused* to look until our blood was in the streets. *Refused* to listen to any voice but your own. *Refused* to consider what this was, what this has always been, when NOTHING these people have done was not telegraphed YEARS in advance. ...May you rot.

Tom probably still disagrees w anyone calling tRump a fascist or saying America is fascist. Its why he blocked me. Good to see his own magazine decided to finally recognize what the lunatic in the White House (whats left of it) is.

Why exactly does the author spend the beginning of the article with slamming the dumb progressives? Even in a piece about how fascists are fascists they find a way to slam the people that have, as the author admits, literally been proven right. Childish behaviour honestly.

You know this only makes you a total fucking idiot jack ass, right? It took you this long to realize? Who the fuck would ever give a shit what you have to say anymore lmao

Oh, well, now that Jonathan Rauch believes it's fascism I guess it's finally fascism! I was just a hysterical lunatic for ten years while I predicted every goddamn thing that has come to pass, right?

The USA have such ill-equipped intelectual elites and thought writers. The fuck is this...everyone and their mother already understood that it was fascim since he rode that escalator. Even his supporters know it is, that's exactly why they like him - cause he's an authoritarian

People who actually study fascism and understand it — as well as most people on Earth — knew this far far before the Atlantic admitted the obvious, a decade late. Which makes me wonder, why does the Atlantic exist?
