Or, you can just ban the Nazis. And maybe not change rules to accommodate them.

No, it’s the bigots you allow to run rampant on your site who are allowed to screen post and share people’s skeets on X to raise a moral panic.

You dumb asshole

It may be fundamentally difficult to avoid youtu.be/CYlon2tvywA

WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT MY MOTHER???

If the former them you're just waiting for the other shoe to drop, if the latter, then why do you keep talking about technology when the topic of moderation policy comes up?

the negativity will stop when you stop covering for fascist cunts and ban them like a normal person would. shocker, people don't like fascists, and when you dodge answering "why don't you ban them," you get criticised for not banning fascists.

Have you heard of a guy called Lowtax?

I wonder who at bluesky could possibly do something about that maybe someone technical a high up position would be useful who could this mystery person be?

Maybe go back to the version of the TOS that limits the people who are on here only to drive negative interactions?

There are issues with this site's design, I agree with that. The app's intrinsic design is not the reason trans users are mad right now. There is no technical solution to policy choices.

insane how bad you guys are at this lmao

Oh, I thought maybe you were admitting it was your own decisions that were wrong, but of course not.

I'm so tired. I don't want to move apps again. Maybe it's impossible to run a social media site without being terrible people. Maybe I'll just use mastodon more 😩

I beg you to understand that the issue you have identified is not caused by tech and will not be solved by tech

but I have so many positive interactions and so few negative interactions online, even here 0: I have plenty of criticisms of this platform and the politics of how it is run, but the only technical complaints I have are about how complicated and expensive it is to run and maintain a full stack

Current design leads this to occur? Don't you have core values surrounding this work and is there no one responsible for maintaining that atmosphere? This platform stuff only works if everyone's working together. Governance is like that. You have to govern. This is what you chose to become.

Then fix your shit. No, there's not a "Fix Your Shit" button that makes this happen immediately. But I'm 1000% sure that the CTO posting witty zingers in the midst a product-related comms crisis is the opposite of whatever's involved in fixing your shit.

Have you considered that you are clowns?

I subscribed to a few hefty blocklists of known right-wing agitators back when I first made an account and honestly with maybe one exception it's been smooth sailing on a person-to-person level since. But that was a community-driven moderation effort. A systemic effort would be hugely beneficial.

like, why hasn't juni had any response at all regarding why the head of T&S used moderation like his personal goon squad? singal is a tiny, almost irrelevant symptom of bsky itself refusing to engage with moderation as a responsibility while continuing to wield it foolishly and selfishly

It’s not great to see the decision makers of this app look at their glaring social and community issues as tech problems that just need better product design Y’all are smarter than this

Your towers gonna fall. Enjoy living in denial while you can

If you actually cared about Jesse Singal as a person you’d ban him for his own good. He’s just a weapon to you.

banning a guy(jesse singal) that causes negative interactions would probably have fixed that problem long ago

And the enshrining principle behind good moderation? DON'T BE A DICKHEAD. DMs are open hit me up for more moderation strategizing.

You're never going to stop negative interactions on social media. That's the driver behind people curating their feed. All you need is good moderation. That's it.

But that's why you have a robust and active moderation team. Like, do you need help putting that together? Should I send in my resume?

Sounds like you made a shitty app then.

Cisgender detected, opinion rejected

*refuses to ban nazis, bigots, and serial harrassers* "boy, social media is so toxic by its nature. absolutely nothing we can do about it"

Man, no, that's YOU GUYS. It's not the fucking app radiating Bad Juju or whatever, YOU GUYS keep banning people for being Palestinian or trans or whatever while literally changing TOS to protect fascists. YOU are the problem!

One weird trick to fix it is to ban the nazi transphobes

And maybe "free speech space / rules stickler he didnt acktually break ToS" posture would be cool, but then you do punish that same community for saying "rest in piss" So it's all very confusing

Man you still don't get brazilians Sorry for the carinho da torcida. Next time stand up for something

The current designers drive people to negative interactions with themselves because they are conceding free speech to nazis and banning anti-nazi joke "rest in piss" It's your fault.

Who's fault it's that?

I used to have such high hopes for the future of this app, it's so disappointing to see the approach that the moderation is taking. shame

I mean on god my guy I could do your public relations better than you, and I am really unqualified to do it. you guys suck at this and it's really quite spectacular to watch

It’s not the design it’s the decisions, bud. And yall keep making those shittier and shittier

serious question: do you see a reflection of yourself when you look in a mirror?

Refusing to ban the offending bigot is how we got here.

You’re the one watching bigots tear at vulnerable populations & waving meme flags at us the whole time. Like if I shrug & say oh well every time someone says ‘golly trans people go to jail immediately die!’ theyre seeing what they can get away with. And it feels like your team. Doesn’t care At all.
