Teens are still hanging out in real life. Their phones are full of photos they take together. The birthrate is declining because teenagers have good information about birth control, maybe thanks to the Internet.
Sure, iphones are the cause. If by that you mean they are also a product of the tech/finance empire that has been migrating money from the bottom 99% to the top 1%, making everything more difficult and more expensive, not least of which is raising a child. But yeah, blame shiny pictures on a screen.
Team, this claim has been doing the rounds for about four weeks (minimum) and roundly debunked/mocked. Perhaps see if @pwgtennant.bsky.social would have a chat? bsky.app/profile/pwgt...
You may have seen this graph in the FT, which claims to show birth rates plunging since the introduction to smartphone. Except it doesn't. Read my short piece with @debscohen.bsky.social on some of the problems with this graph of juicy cherries! unherd.com/newsroom/are...

The vast majority of these phone addicts do not need them. I don't get it, a PC or laptop is vastly superior in every way when compared to the tiny toy screens. I don't want our population to grow, it needs to shrink because we steal far more than our fair share of resources from future generations.
