Being able to pin a feed to my homepage without following everyone on the list is a genuinely useful and awesome feature. Google+ was ahead of its time with circles (IYKYK) but this is the next best thing for curating multiple feeds.

True I still think the overall structure was awesome though. People run in circles and sometimes want to share certain things with certain circles of people

the design evolved from what Brad had done with LiveJournal where you set a publishing list for who you wanted to have see specific posts; it worked for that but didn't transfer well to short posts when it's less worth doing the work to pick

It’s why I left. Granted I didn’t have nearly as big of a following there but I never once paid for a single solitary subscription and I’m so glad I left. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it here way more than I ever did there and here’s hoping I get to know more good people here.

Yeah and I can’t stand it. Why continue to give that guy’s platform anymore credibility. If these Dems really wanted to take a stand, they’d flat out leave. That would really get Elon and Twitter to take a notice.

Google+ had lots of good features, but it was too little too late sadly. It ultimately got used and felt a lot more like Microsoft's Yammer instead of a proper social media network.

I loved Google+, it was indeed ahead of its time. Circles were so easy to manage and the photo and video features were way ahead of their time as well. Just goes to show, it doesn’t matter how great the platform is, without enough users, it’s nothing.

I honestly feel Google should have never given up on Google+, I think it would have bounced back and been strong by now with some effort. As for bluesky, I am pleased it’s here with the features it has and I am looking forward to growing with it

As much as I try to avoid Google services these days, I am still a firm believer that Google+ was, feature-wise, one of the best social media sites we’ve been shown so far.

It's a great feature but you can actually do the same on X. The issue is that X has so many different features baked into it at this point that it's difficult to remember them all. Fewer, discoverable features creates a better overall UX.

I use communities for this on X which is slightly different but it pins community feeds to my home screen. Maybe slightly different to what you're looking for but it's essentially a feed of posts relating to a specific topic - without having to follow anyone. Eg. Here's Apple in my X homepage:

I’m only just finding my way around Bluesky and yeah, it’s brilliant! Not so brilliant: when I try to scroll, the feed bounces back. Is that a “hey you’ve spent enough time here, go do something useful!” feature?

This place has some of the old Google+ vibes. I miss Google+ but this place is nice so far. It doesn't have that Google stank all over it
