not only are they not good people, this performative courting of nonexistent integrity is a bizarre waste of everybody's time

Booker: "There are really good people in the Senate on both sides of the aisle, and I have these private conversations with my colleagues about what's wrong. But they're afraid or unwilling to say these things publicly. And that is the crisis that we're in. It's a crisis of conviction."

And those Republicans have nothing but contempt for Booker being his back, because they have been playing him like a fiddle for so long.

He’s so earnestly insincere, that people believe him. I remember when he performed his senate record “faux-abuster” and the stood for a photo-op with war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu. After, of course, he voted to confirm convicted felon and scumbag Charlie Kushner as ambassador to France. Fcuk him.

hey what if instead you called them out for being genuinely unethical and terrible people in a creative and hyperbolic ways that leveraged social media virality and the press' obsession with platforming engagement controversy

democrats spent many years as a performative corporatist opposition party so when authoritarianism came all the structural faults revealed themselves, much like trying to overload a badly designed bridge with too many eighteen wheelers

Here's the thing... I 100% believe that they are very cordial to Cory Booker. I 100% believe Markwayne Mullen is nice to Kirsten Gillibrand. Liz Cheney and Kamala probably had a few laughs together. And that's why I'm so angry all the time.

I went by the phrase “the worst Democrat is better than the best Republican “ but I honestly cannot believe this anymore. They all suck and our politicians are simply corporate shills in one form or another. If they aren’t when they start, they morph into them in due time. This sucks.

I mean fascism will always be worse than performative hollow corporatism and banal corruption, but it's still not much of a choice

Now, now, he can't just call them corrupt AI-loving Republibots who have no souls, backbones, or common decency. Suggesting they're driving up costs while driving down wages in an effort to break the very people they represent is also out. Betting on crypto rather than your kids future, nope nope.

If people are too afraid to “be good” in public, or in a way that results in positive effects on others, such that their outward, demonstrable effects are entirely deleterious— those aren’t good people!

This is Booker’s shitty attempt at appearing reasonable. He’s priming the pump for a presidential bid. Here’s a suggested campaign slogan “Booker, tough on NAZIS until it’s time to bend over for their votes”

Agreed. If you’re still going along and assisting this regime, you’ve kinda given up the privilege of being called “good people.” Because “good people” step up and do what’s right. Secondly, can anyone remember a Republican senator saying there are some good people among the Democrats?

I am so fucking over Booker... So sick of kind, but credulous dopes imagining a time in politics that has never existed but in the nostalgic echoes of hearing their own voices...

Even if it’s true that he’s had the conversations about what’s wrong, the fact that they are too cowardly to say anything makes them not good people

Shut the fuck up! Republicans are GREEDY COWARDS. That DOESN'T make them "good people." We're in peril as a nation because of Republicans' cowardice, selfishness & greed. AND, we're here because Democrats like @booker.senate.gov keep giving Republicans a pass like THIS. SHUT THE FUCK UP BOOKER!

It's a crisis of having zero integrity, not wanting to lose a cushy job/perks, and only caring about themselves. They're sociopaths - on both sides. #ReleasetheEpsteinFilesNOW #DeportIncelNAZIElmoLush&PsychopathParasiteThiel #JailtheOrangePustule/BillionairesinCECOT #$ubprimeCourtReformsNOW

Democrats should record Republicans & share the recordings. Let everyone know who they are, what they claim to believe, & let the public & the press... press them on the disparity between their public & private statements. Are they lying in public, or are they lying in private? How can we know?

If they can't be brave enough to stand up to Trump, they should at least be honorable enough to resign. If they can neither be brave nor honorable, then they don't deserve cover, & certainly not from Democrats. Let two-faced Republicans deal w the fallout on their own.

Booker could so easily flip this into "they are cowards who do not even believe in the evil things they get bullied into supporting in public". Bipartisan posturing is a disease.

You never, ever hear Republican electeds say that about their Democratic colleagues. Never. But for some reason Dems feel like they have to do this. I don't doubt there are legislators from different parties that get along w/ each other, but WTF with all the normalizing of these sycophantic ghouls?

Americans are dying because these 'good people' are abject, sniveling cowards who put their own welfare above the good of the country and violate the oath of office they all took. And elected Dems are almost universally failing to meet the moment.

MAGATscum will always be MAGATscum and they are NOT good people… I’m sick of milquetoast Dems trying to “make friends” with these terrorists… @booker.senate.gov when is enough enough??? Every Dem in Congress should be screaming for impeachment of every idiot of this administration EVERY SINGLE DAY!!

Hey coward Corey, if there were “ good people “ on the other side, we wouldn’t be on the cusp of WW3 and authoritarianism here at home The republicans hate you. Hate every democratic senator. They don’t even afford you the curtesy of addressing the party by its proper name Wake the fuck up

Someone who says one thing "behind the scenes", then an opposite cruel thing in public, is not a "good person". Quite the opposite extreme, actually.

Right. If the lowliest private in our armed forces had this same attitude - giving lip service to their Oath, but refusing to go to battle - we would consider this completely unacceptable. How come we can't hold those of the highest office to the same standard?

This is why the current Dem leadership has to go. If you're abetting and aiding this administration's destruction of our Constitution than you are NOT a good person. And for Dem leadership to say anything other than that is pathetic. Either stand up and fight or get out of the way.

I took my Senator (Welch) to task about being "collegial" (his office's word when I called) about the nice (and untrue) things he said about Mullin - respected, honest, & competent. NO! Mullin is none of those things. The time for collegiality is over. It's time for the truth.

Somebody needs to knock him, upside the head and let him know that if you say something in private, but when it really counts, you say something else and it fucks the country, that’s not a patriot and that’s not someone you can deal with. And that’s not a good person. By any means.

Like a lot of liberals, Booker has spent his whole life around well-intentioned people acting in good faith. He can't grasp that his opponents are bad-faith actors.

Oh please. Booker is a 50 year old man. Stop being such a naive dope. His definition of good and decent ppl surely includes the neighborhood they live in, the size of their bank account and if they have table manners at a fine restaurant. He's a capitalist POS just like his colleagues.

It's been a decade. How has it not got through yet that Republicans aren't timid little rabbits waiting for gentle encouragement to be decent, or that Democrats aren't appealing when they say this sort of stuff?
