"Go back and play Morrowind and tell me that’s the game you want to play again," said Bruce Nesmith, who worked for Bethesda for over 17 years, adding that playing The Elder Scrolls 3 "would not stand the test of time." https://bit.ly/4q4GoKh

The big issue for Morrowind is the disconnect between how combat works and how combat is animated. And a remaster could solve that.

My guy. Morrowind is one of my favorite games ever. Top 10. I've played it recently. Its still slaps waaaay harder than Skyrim, to me.

Way to take a dump on your own greatest accomplishment. It's not like there are dozens m/hundreds of YouTube channels dedicated to playing morrowind. Or thousands of mod downloads every month. But whatever you gotta tell yourself to keep putting out slop.

If he said new play could find it hard to enjoy Morrowind, I'd say "maybe" If it's about people who played it and wanna do it again? Holy shit, the kind of people who played Morrowind will absolutely want to play more Morrowind

The thing is that there's a HUGE community of people who do want to be playing Morrowind, but also all of us are the type to scoff at the very concept of a remake. I mean it would be insulting, not only to the original game, but to our intelligence

For everyone calling him a idiot, care to explain why basically every guide is just a way to get past the crappily designed bullshit of the game? ("Oh, but it has a great mod community", if a game needs to be modded to be good, then it's crap and you know it.)

I genuinely don't even know what you're talking about? Most guides I see are either explaining how skills work or what builds are best. Like every other RPG.

I’m honestly not sure what part is cringe, i played it not long ago and it was amazing. It does need some QOL improvements. But let me JUMP and FLY again in an elderscrolls game dammit!

Tweak it a bit, make the combat less frustrating, make it look prettier and you're into a winner. Basically make it look and play like how we think we remember it, isn't that the goal of a good remaster?

Yeah, guys, I know some people still play Morrowind, but Oblivion Remaster lags behind Starfield (and every other Bethesda title) in player count, because it aged terribly. bsky.app/profile/timo...

So, I doubt they are being tone deaf, they are just looking at numbers regarding their latest remaster attempt (Oblivion) and are making conclusions Starfield was among the top 40 Xbox games for well over a year, Oblivion Remastered had an impressive start, but fell out of top 40 in 3 months or so

Just add an attribute tracker to your level up bar and highlight what taking would be a crime and thats like half of morrowinds flaws gone right there.

I think it's perfectly possible to upgrade the graphics & UI for smoother gameplay while still trusting that your players can: 1) read 2) click on dialog options 3) enjoy finding quest stuff without markers holding their hand Even with dated graphics I think "Tribunal" looks fucking great

The menu is one of the best they made, and its only problem is the inventory uses icons instead of text. But the ability to append menus so you can play while it is open and resize and move them at will, while also having them all open at once are absolutely the best UI design they ever had.

Bruce Nesmith sounds like a complete moron. Morrowind DLC was LITERALLY IN SKYRIM YOU DUMBASS! It LITERALLY stood the test of time as it made a comeback in the most successful Elder Scrolls game thus far! What you thought that was a Skyrim storyline? 😂 🤡🤡🤡

Such a weird take. I can play Ultima Underworld and have a great time. That game is years older than Morrowwind, and far clunkier in every way. It holds up. So do games based on Morrowind, such as Dread Delusion. TBH, they're *far* more fun than modern Bethesda games...

Morrowind is several times the game Oblivion or Skyrim ever were, and both of them got remasters. There's literally a team that has been porting Morrowind to the Skyrim engine for over a decade and everyone is salivating over the chance to play it. Someone just ported Morrowind's map to Elden Ring.

Apparently someone is trying to recreate Morrowind in Ocarina of time also (while trying to make THAT run on actual n64 hardware). Another person is recreating Morrowind but for the Gameboy Color. Like, I dunno, I think people MIGHT still like the game.

I think people who say stuff like this are simply too unmotivated to deal with even the tiniest bit of friction in their games. This statement isn’t surprising though, given the direction they took with later TES and Fallout games.

You think you've seen the worst opinions ever in your life and somehow IGN manages to find the one person with an even more dogwater opinion, can't even make this up

hey that's fine, I don't want anyone to pay Bethesda for a remaster when openMW is right there. What, are you gonna start crying because the graphics aren't EPIC enough? lol

I actually did go back and play it again last year. Admittedly, there's some severe friction points, but there's too much to love in it to respect such a jaded take. A handful of fixes, tweaks and changes, and it's easily a bestseller.

"the further back you go the more that's going to be an issue" as if OG Doom, DN3D and Quake aren't still fun as hell 30 years on and still hold up next to some modern shooters that hobble themselves with shit like "stamina meters" and "realistic guns"

Skybaby here, went back through the titles for more lore. It's not just glazing from longtime fans, the game really is that good. I went back to play morrowind because I got sick of waiting for skywind. By shor I still want to play skywind.

The only problem with Morrowind is the draw distance (It's seriously the best looking TES game with draw distance mods, oh my god) and the combat being jank, and honestly Elder scrolls never REALLY improved on it's combat by much. Other than that, it's the best and most fun Bethesda game by far.

Morrowind's the one with spears, where I can bunnyhop to max out athletics and get a stupid high jump height, and lets me doom the world by taking out story critical NPCs It's nice aside from the cliff racers

There's a youtuber born in the 2000's who had tested Morrowind and made several videos about how he understood what was genuine about the title and why people still love the game. Modern audience have fun with the game too. Even if we know some mechanics are janky today.

I don't even like Morrowind and I think this is stupid. The people who love it despite its (many, many egregious) flaws would throw money at a remake. Hell I would be willing to try it to see if the changes addressed my issues with it.

Some of the game play is janky and there are a host of bugs but later games have never come close to the storytelling and open-world freedom and quality of the main quest and faction quests. Plus the hidden stuff. Accidentally discovering I could become a vampire and that had factions and quests!

And I have helped introduce it to people in recent years to much success! It takes them some getting used to but all the brilliance of it shines through before long

I played Morrowind for the first time last year. Had a great time lol. Sure it's not a perfect game, but it fits every bit of the idea of retro gaming nowadays. There's a lot of charm to it that you don't find anywhere else.

Man Morrowind is such a fun and still good game. The only issue with it is that the mechanics are kinda poorly communicated in the actual game for new players but once you get past that it’s an incredible rpg. TES3MP really shows how fun and unique the build system is.

I! want! to! play! this! game! but its so brown! remaster it add in extra decorations and colour, leave everything else as it is and watch the money roll in! i cant mod the old game dont have a pc.
