All this will do is push more kids to Roblox and its ilk by pricing them out of the market. Consoles are going to end up where gaming PCs were 10-15 years ago.

I bought a 3DS XL last week. It cost £100. It’s amazing! I fear older consoles will raise in price due to increased demand now, though, so I’m buying what I’ve missed out on asap

if this is how much hardware costs then like traditional games are dead dead. it’s not a difficult storm that can be weathered it is simply The End. don’t cry because it’s over smile because it happened type shit

I guess they might sort of emerge from computer games, convergent evolution style but it's not looking good there either.

i've always said that consoles peaked with the ps3. it was powerful enough for games like gta 5 and persona 5, it could play any ps1 game and most ps2 games, it had the best menu of any game console ever, a ps3 made with modern parts would be the ideal console.

Remembering PS360 era think pieces that said “we have one, maybe two console generations left” because the idea was that we would eventually move beyond dedicated hardware into something radically different. yeah the radically different thing was Nothin’

Never imagined traditional gaming regress to how bad things were for us in 2000s. Expensive games over super expensive consoles. Hell, bring back pirated CD stalls with funny looking covers.

I'd say 2027. corsair is already making RAM with chinese chips. 2028 would be the prediction for the "regular" companies to come back to the market: They're also trying to get chinese RAM chips banned in America so they can keep their monopoly

I think that’d be worth about 300 today based on a quick search. I’m not gonna pretend like the Switch 2 isn’t a bit bloated in cost, but their bullshit isn’t anything compared to Sony/Microsoft right now

oh my god I didn't even realise until I clicked that it was on top of the price increase they already did, anyone who pays £430 for a Series S needs a welfare check

honestly hilarious that their strategy for the boycott and falling console sales is to make the things cost almost twice as much as they did at launch. can't prove that's WHY they're doing it but lmao
