italy and spain... wow... just wow...

90% of Danes and 80% of Germans do not have a favourable view of the USA. I mean, it's not surprising, but still. Wow!

That tendency that Danes let it slide until they reach a point where they act! It is so visible! 🤣

🖕🇺🇸🎺🖕

The only other example of using “GB” in a modern context that I can think of is the abbreviation of the British Pound to GBP (and the Bank of Ulster’s notes are supposed to spend just like GBPs but sometimes they don’t.)

"But bear in mind this is only Western Europe. In Eastern Europe, it has been harder to take the blinders off peoples' eyes." This is such a wonderfully patronizing statement. A poll from 31th January in Poland. Arguably USA is the least popular in 250 years of the relationship with POL

I'm so tired of "winning"

Very true

HUH!! in order formerly great power, refusniks who won't share Greenland, cheese eating surrender monkeys, lost the war i prefer countries that win wars, very good mafia people on both sides (of the atlantic) why would i like any country that fights bull????

Send JD Vance to Germany to campaign for AfD.

Looks like we all agree this sucks.

It might. But then itll swing back to crazy when the next republican president gets in

Wonder what could be causing a crash in European respect and warm feelings for the United States … just can’t figure it out … 🤔

I am surprised it is not even higher in Spain since Trump said Spain should be kicked out of NATO for whatever lie he happened to have been telling at the time

This reminds me of being in Italy the day Obama was elected. The Italian people were genuinely excited for us. We watched the election results in Milan with cheering Italians, some shops had Obama posters displayed, it was a really neat experience to be embraced as an American in that way.

This is because they see the US as the "Only buffer against Russia". Memories of being puppets of Moscow run deep past the former Iron Curtain.

As detailed as the graph is, I took the Trump 1/Biden divide as mark. Same four years later. And yep the curve is more or less similar in GB Denmark France and Germany. Mh, the peak in presumably 2022 Could be Putins war against Ukraine? And 2025 is about tariffs?

Trump spent part of 2020, when you'd think he'd have been busy with other duties, insulting Germany in public. archive.ph/E68cx

And they'll keep insisting the US has never been so respected. If one day they're pelted with eggs and produce, they'll claim it's a tribute to their work on the old-fashioned or possibly hoax concept of affordability.

Italy is the only real surprise for me here. Why isn't Trump 2 resonating with the ethno-nationalists there?

Some Democrats vote Republican but haven’t got round to changing their party. Works the other way around too.

REPUBLICANS have. Democrats and Indies, not so much.

I have seen no change on the ground in the US towards Canada, Mexico or the EU. In fact a bunch of ding dongs seem unaware Of the growing tension thanks to the criminals running the US currently. im in a red state -maybe that’s mostly legacy media projecting its BS

Trump's US state department is funding MAGA think-tanks and charities across Europe to disseminate MAGA-alighted policy positions and destroy the orders in Europe and UK. www.ft.com/content/f869...

Culturally and historically rich, true social democracies - what's not to be hated by American republicans?

I have a friendly attitude toward Canada but would understand if they had an unfriendly attitude toward us

That scaled Y axis is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Democrats in the US have an upward trend re seeing Canada as #unfriendly or an #enemy? Dear Canada, join the EU. Now. French, English and Spanish are official languages. european-union.europa.eu/principles-c...

Just like the Ghor.

I have really low expectations as a baseline, but seeing that Dems aren't socially inoculated against this nonsense is still gut wrenching. Can't even maintain positive attitudes towards our literal allies in a global crisis. ffs

GOP, as always, making the rest of us look bad

I can come up with a few reasons why the Republican antipathy for the EU would have begun climbing in 2025, but I can't figure out what triggering event(s) would have caused the same hostility against Canada starting in *2020*.

'Easily led'.....is a phrase that springs to mind!!?

Unreal. Propaganda from the right is killing our country

Yup.

It's like they've never met an actual Canadian.

Its also kind of true though, because of the US policy, Europe and Canada have become less friendly

bsky.app/profile/meek...

"Favourable vs Unfavourable" is also significantly different from "Unfriendly or an Enemy". Polling choosing that sort of heightened language is already sending it's own message.

Still only 30% of them? So the majority of “they” have not changed their mind?

Republicans never beating the cult allegations. Do as supreme leader says...

Thank you for sharing these polls, I am not surprised that the Republicans take easily to their new marching orders, are there any polls focusing on US perceptions of Denmark/Greenland?

The US government is telling Americans to hate Europeans and Canadians. And many have dutifully changed their opinions. MAGA have no opinions of their own.

Talk about sheeple

Cringe diplomacy is doing its bit (but 👏 to @nroettgen.bsky.social‘s raction) www.politico.eu/article/dona...

Framing is different though. The US refers to the State, Canadians and Europeans refers to the citizens.

Europeans are more advanced and civilised imo than America. The US got off to a bad start stealing the land and massacring it's rightful owners.

Actually, 2/3rds of the GDP difference between USA and France is that the french have holidays and retire earlier. I mean, which would any sane person rather have?

You’re looking at a chart showing republicans doing what they always do: follow what Trump tells them.

Glad this is a moment to look at the % more than the trend.

Western Europe was never Communism. In a sense, Eastern Europe too. In terms of demographics, Europe isn't any more or less diverse than the US. Demographic shifts in the US over the past 80 years have been more substantial than anywhere else in the world. Hating EU is all about hating democracy

For the record, the vast majority of Americans do not think this way and love all of you. We’re embarrassed by all of this nonsense.

In we are dumb enough to let them enter

Gdp is higher, but.... The USA generally has a higher overall poverty rate (approx. 17.8%) compared to most Western/Northern European nations, driven by higher income inequality.

This notion of "how Americans hate Europe" is way too simplistic. There is considerable hostility among significant sectors of the US population, but that is only part of the story.

americans aren’t smart enough to be jealous of Europe

Stupidity and malice

Ignorance I think

Same differences with Canada. As we always say: Americans live to work whereas the rest of us, work to live.

They hate you because they're insanely racist. They hate people of colour and Canada and Europe's immigration policies.

Yea Ukraine people getting democracy and a higher standard of living then most Russians even without drilling for oil. And you can't have a successful democracy right next to you as Russia.

Also noteworthy that many countries in Europe have a *higher* median household net worth than the US. www.visualcapitalist.com/ranked-top-2...

A war with the British which would not have been won without the help of the French.

Republicans not generic “Americans”.

Weird phrasing. It's objectively true that Canada is less friendly to the US than before the US started treating Canada as an adversary, but that doesn't reflect and shouldn't be conflated with enmity from the Canadian side.

imgur.com/a/YZMyt Some good examples

More and more every day Fallout lore doesn't seem to outlandish.

Propaganda works.
