To be clear (cc @pfrazee.com ), does this mean that we can access our profile using the reserved bsky.social handle? Is that page effectively a redirect to our custom profile? Since it's not retroactive, I know I'll have to change my username back and forth a couple times.

I assumed this was already a thing when I renamed months ago and some random is now using my old handle :(

So, I guess if someone forgets or fails to renew the domain, the previous default username will be used as the fallback, which is great. How often does the system verify that the account owner is still the domain owner? I assume it is done periodically, but I wonder what the frequency is.

I suppose it could not be retroactive, because in some cases it would no longer be possible (because that handle might have been taken in the meantime). So, those cases would cause problems.

Can you make it so when I refresh my feed it doesn't go all the way to the newest post, but allows me to continue with the last post I read? Super annoying to have to scroll back down and find where I left off.

So, because we changed our bluesky name to our domain before this update, i had to go and manually re-register @coffeegeek.bsky.social again, and hold it as a placeholder. Is there a way to change that to "reserved" status instead?

I tested it. Sadly, the old handle will not redirect to the new one. It is reserved, but for others, it just shows as if the reserved handle doesn’t exist.
